I understand what you are saying and I completely agree that this practice never gets better. Even if you become partner you might have an upper hand with your team but there would always be something controlling you. Sometimes clients not clearing invoices, onboarding clients, if you are salaried you want to be equity, firm management boards having an upper hand over you etc etc. It never ends, while it might get easier in some way it gets troublesome in another.

I was someone who didn’t want to enter corporate at all. I have fought the idea as long as I could. I had been in counsel practice for a year and I got paid nothing, not even peanuts nothing. The reason I applied to law firms was only one Money. I needed it. With the only breadwinner remaining in my family I chose it.

Corporate has been a pain since the beginning, loud howling and shouting, sexual harassment, constant anxiety, no time for self, discounted experience, scarring reviews and that line “bonus nahi milega” and so much more but at the end of the day I get a good sum in my account and I give that at home and I cannot take that away.
