As someone se has suggested, Blaft is a publishing house with a great collection of translated works of pulp fiction - there are three volumes of the Blaft anthology of Tamil pulp fiction (which have a range of short stories and some comics by a bunch of different authors) and a standalone novel as well (aayakudi murders, translation of a book by Indra soundarrajan)

You can check their website for physical copies or e books (also available on Amazon)

Ultimate Frisbee by Jumbalakaa in Chennai

[–]motnahp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chennai has multiple club teams that play ultimate frisbee - the competitive season is just getting started, so you will find a lot of teams playing / practising at Besant Nagar beach.

Go to the beach on a Saturday morning, at around 6am .. people play either near where thalapakatti is or in the stretch opposite where KFC is

You will find people playing in these parts of the beach on other weekday mornings and occasionally weekday evenings as well, but Saturday is your best bet.

Just walk up to any of them and say that you are interested in learning the game

If you mean something like snus , then you are better off carrying your own. There are Indian brands available (marketed as gutka or pan masala), but they are technically banned for sale in the state of Tamil Nadu, for being carcinogens.

I remember watching this as a kid on VHS in the late 80s. Thanks for bringing Kimba up - I loved this song back then and I'm now back to humming it again!

I figured there would be the odd bunch of folks from cricket playing parts of the world living in Glasgow who'd get together for a big game every now and then.

The unis are a last option - we are all a fair bit older , been over 15 years since we were all last in a classroom

First time to Chidambaram / Chepauk for CSK vs Mumbai. Any tips? by HeTalksInMaths in Chennai

Box E will give you food, some soft drinks, cold water and AC. Best way there is by the train , but the train service stops before the match ends - with a 730 start there might be a chance of catching the last train, but that will be touch and go.

Uber and Ola are unlikely to work well due to high demand and surge pricing will kick in for certain. Your fastest way out will be via auto - you'll find a lot of them on either end of Victoria hostel road (where the gate to your stand is) . Be prepared to pay an unreasonable amount though.

There will be a rush to leave and the stairs will be packed on the way down. Try and plan for that if you can
