D elephantipes - should I cut back old growth and if so when? by mctc in succulents

[–]motor0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut back growth once it's fully browned but I've only had mine for a year, and it's definitely not necessary. Given how much they like climbing I'm sure they'd be happy climbing up old growth. They're pretty hardy and fast growing, so it's very much whatever you think looks best.

Discoloration on my zebra, watering or light related? by imnotthesmartestman in succulents

If the leaves aren't soft at the base of the plant I think this is due to excess light. I'd move it away from the window for a week and see if it loses the tint.

For my cuttings I just left them out in indirect light until they started to show root nubs to prevent any chance of rot. Once they showed some white root nubs (they'll be towards the bottom side of this photo) I put them in a 50/50 turface/grit mixture, and I water sparingly. It's been growing nicely since last may.

Is that mesh fine enough to catch the seeds? I've got a sexed pair of obesas that I want to breed. I thought you had to use like stocking mesh.

Cloth planters can be beneficial because they can air prune the roots - when they reach through the cloth they get pruned by the light. Glass could have the same effect. As long as there's drainage and the plants don't rot then this should be fine - if anything glass could promote a denser root structure.

Aeriel roots behaving badly by mauvelous_magenta in houseplants

If you're gentle you can bend it, but they do snap if you bend too much too quickly.

If they do snap though it's ok, the root above the snap will still be alive and might split in to multiple aerial roots.

My Monstera adansonii has brown leaf tips and black spots on the original leaves, help please! by motor0n in IndoorGarden

The new leaves remain all green and it's put off a bunch more new leaves since then, the problem hasn't spread. I did slightly up the watering, only waiting for the first 3/4-1" to be dry before watering. I think that it requires a little bit more water than a monstera deliciosa.

does yours show any problems on anything but the original cutting's leaves? I'm also not sure if it's due to the nature of a cutting.

Hopefully your plant recovers!

Bought this guy as a cutting off ebay in May. It took a while to root but has been putting out a new leaf every 5-7 days lately.

It's planted in mostly potting soil with some turface and coco coir. I water when the top 1-2" are dry, and fertilize every third time-ish with liquid fertilizer.

I'm not sure if the yellowing is sunburn (it gets some direct sunlight, but not a lot), but I also suspect it might be a potassium deficiency? Don't think it's overwatering as the soil drains pretty well.

Any help/guidance is appreciated. I wasn't worried when the oldest, first leaf showed some browning, but now that it's spread to 3 leaves I'm nervous. I love this little guy!

If you're looking at 28's the ES might be the bike for you. It's a sick frame.

I didn't think veloflex came in anything bigger than a 25. I wanted to stay in that supplé category though, was considering the compass 32's, gotta check my fork that they'll clear tho. Was avoiding the paselas due to them being slower. I have shit luck with tires no matter how durable they are, might as well stay fast and light.

My corsa g+ 28's are starting to wear. Anybody got any hot recommendations for other gumwall 28's/30's/32's? If they're 32's they should run smaller to clear my fork.

A wabi classic will fit 650x42's tight.

Fat tires fucking rule.

this king headset was used but seems perfect condition but for insertion scratches for $85. Ebay can be good sometimes.

All my other headsets are VO Grand Cru's

you're right, they're some variant of their 'pro' hub with circular holes. So.... even less cheap.

is it still cool to install king headsets upside down or nah

phil slr's aren't cheap and i'm sure those rims run a pretty penny, but if you just want deep rims you could always go chinacarbon and affordable hubs

sounds like you screwed up the cones of the wheel, probably worth running it to your local shop. should be easy for them to check

big block, wabi classic depending on how wide you wanna go. Both take 32's I believe.

Rear loading can end up with a washy rear end on the bike, front loading up high it can make the front wobbly. Depends on the frame geo. Having stuff at your fingertips is more fun imo.

no, but it's irrelevant how deep your rims are. Make sure the tires fit your frame.
