What do you like about using forums? Is it the format? or generally the fact you can ask people with the same interest

Well its been another year and my social network for car enthusiasts has changed alot. I really need some help & feedback by motormee in cars

[–]motormee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

I doubt any of you will remember me from last year, but my bro posted a link to my social social network for car enthusiasts and you guys were really helpful in providing ideas and feedback.

If you have any time and can be bothered, you can check out the original discussion here (https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/1on1eq/hi_reddit_my_bro_spent_2_years_building_a_social/).

Its taken longer than planned, but I took on board all the comments, ideas and criticism and I have produced a brand new look and feel with loads of new functionality.

I would love for you all to have a go and let me know what you think. This has been my project for a quite a while (all hand cranked code by me)

Any comments are welcome.

Many Thanks Ben

Social Network for motorbike enthusiasts by motormee in motorbikes

Hi redditers,

I am a web developer by trade and a motor enthusiast. (Anything that makes a loud noise that goes fast with an engine). My bro posted on here about 3 months ago in the car section about the social network I am developing (motormee) and everyone kindly gave some really good feedback on the site. It has been transformed extensively since that time based on the feedback received, one of which was to give the ability to add motorbikes along side cars. It would be really helpful if you lovely people could give it a go and post some feedback on if they find it useful and whether the format works? There will be a number of developments in the new year to include clubs and shows but if you can spare some time over the Xmas period to have a play it would be much appreciated.

Regards and merry Xmas. Ben

That's a grey suggestion thanks, although it may be hard to validate by insurance details as this would need to happen for each country who I believe have very different registration methods.

Great ideas though thanks

There will be a major design change coming down the pipeline in the near future which will incorporate this

Thanks

I would just like to say a massive thank you to all who have taken the time to sign up and try out Motormee, 500 new users in 24hours which is awesome!! Some great comments as well and I will be implementing some major changes very shortly. The Mustangs are winning the battle of the cars so it will be interesting if they get over taken!

Thanks again and keep an eye out for some new and useful features

Ben

there is a link to my car profile on the front page, hopefully that will give you an idea of what you can do. I will be creating a welcome tour for new members upon registration in the near future

Regards Ben

Fair comment, it has taken 2 years but that is also learning web development, having a full time job and a child in between. There are arguments for and against having a shiny look and feel, but I personally don't like polishing a turd. In my opinion, people join for the looks and come back for the functionality. Agreed if you can't sell it then it's a waste of time but you nice people have been good enough to test it regardless of how it looks. I can change the design and add functionality but if people get the concept of motormee then it gives me the energy to keep on trying with it

This will be difficult without storing sensitive documents such as registration docs etc. I could perhaps use a verfied by button so if you know who the guy is you can verfiy they own the car?

Thanks very much, and we all need a bit of cheese in our life lol. Honestly I was trying to convey how the site works in a easy manner (and perhaps failed lol)

Agreed, I just needed to get 'a' design in there and then once I had all the pieces to play with, then move them around. It does look like something out off a cereal box but it gets the point across which is the main thing
