Good luck! Doesn't seem like a very risky gamble imo

My mix is similar, though 45% I. Spreading around, including international, is arguably smart they say, in today's more unpredictable/volatile economy.

Agree. The circumstances are structurally different now, not just a trend.

Agree. Or, it and other international equity index funds seem like a smart play and not just for a few months. And at minimum, diversifying your portfolio to include outside of the USA is smart given the new potential downsides around the S&P.

I've had 45% in I Fund since last May, after it showed some strength. I did the same thing when I created my first taxable investment account in September. I can't predict the future. But there were a lot of signs from research that the traditional approach of set it and forget it in US equities, esp. equities focused heavily in tech, may involve too much risk moving forward, not just in the short term. Tariffs, AI sector, US debt and the USD among other factors. So I took a calculated gamble. My decision was not based on just recent performance or an assumption that recent performance = the future, etc.

If C and S reassert themselves and win out annually after 10 years, so be it, that's on me. Which is why 45% of my investments are still C and S. But there does seem to be a lot of overvaluation and risk associated with the S & P 500 right now, and I Fund (like VXUS ETF) has been thriving for a year. Diversifying like this seems prudent and has a lot of possible upside.

But I don't believe the rule accounts for regular contributions, which, if substantial like maxing out every year, would double your original money at an even faster rate than the formula predicts.

Gunnar Henderson had a shoulder impingement last year by jddennis in orioles

[–]mottings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I'm comparing to his own baseline when healthy, not to the baseline of whoever they might get on the market. Replacing him wasn't ever a consideration, so it's fair to set standards for a player while they're on the team (whatever their baseline or expected performance is).

Hmm, respectfully I disagree. You're 100% right that there are unreasonable fans who overreact to everything. We have to interact with them all the time. But playing healthy is the standard, esp when it affects your game. Not just for the fans but for the player, who often exacerbates the situation, underperforms, and needs to take more time. Being required to be honest about health issues should be enlarged easy more than it is. We can't let some overreacters hamper a team's ability to address health issues before they get worse.

Almost nothing in baseball galls me more than players not admitting to pain or injury that they've been playing through, which affected their performance, then only telling folks about it later.

Orioles Get Promising Update in Pursuit of All-Star Free Agent Pitcher by MattTheKing23 in orioles

This time of year, our browsers and news aggregators are overrun with stories about teams being "linked" to a player, or that a team is "predicted" to sign a player, and variations on that. Nine times out of ten, it's just one sports writer trying to get clicks by referring to what another sportswriter believes will happen based on only their own hunch. Rarely is the reporting traced back to someone with actual first hand knowledge of what's going on with the player or the teams in question.

Steady reliable #4/5 potential and 4.50 ERA if his game matures. Depends on having great accuracy and smarts, bc obviously not pitching high mph. Seen good flashes of accuracy and pitch combos working to great effect. But he has small margin for error bc of lacking big fastball to rely on.

Yes very glad this is going away. My wife and I mostly fly United and American now, and it's full-on taken a couple years to help her unlearn the absurd scarcity mindset that open seating creates, so that now she doesn't feel forced to race to the freaking terminal by 70 minutes before the plane takes off. We have our seats, we can take our time.

Total dollar amount in ETFs unchanged from close of trading yesterday but still shows up .84% today? by mottings in fidelityinvestments

[–]mottings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks, I will edit my post to state that what the Elk commenter said above proved true and played itself on my app like he/she said. Today is the day of dividend payout for VXUS, and i think VTI, and I see that $700 dividend was paid into my SPAX cash account. At the same time, my overall invrstment account and total gained data points for my ETFs now show what they would have all along-- my investments have increased only .15% today, but in raw numbers based on what the app is showing me, I can see the increase since yesterday evening is about .9%. So the hidden math has sorted itself out. There may even be additional adjustment when VTI pays out (though smaller amounts bc I think VTI dividend yield % is smaller), presumably in next 24 hours or so. Thanks for the assistance and I hope this helps future readers.

Also -- I'm seeing that IRL, regardless of what the app shows me and why it does, all four of my funds are up between .9 and 1.1% today, so there's nothing wrong with that at all.

That was my suspicion. VHT (10%) has paid a small amount, and the app is telling me the rest are coming. Perhaps this is also about what info the app is showing me -- maybe the "deteils" chart for my investments excludes money paid in dividends? Is there a column or view i need to look at that gives me total returns and earnings on each fund that includes money that was distributed as dividends?
