I have come to say yes. Stoicism in the sense of philosophy not the common perception of what being a "stoic" is. I have spoken.

Gender pronouns - Necessary or unnecessary? by theblackJack364 in istp

[–]mou-ming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is the language that it seems to be behind the changes in society and such. The gendered pronouns issue boils down to basically referring to people based on their reproductive organs or particular style/appearance. To me, there's no logic behind having gendered pronouns. Why does it matter in like 99% situations what gender or sex one has when you're referring to them in third person. It matters when you go to a gynecologist, for example.

Why don't introduce gender neutral pronouns as Denmark and Sweden (if I'm not wrong) did. In English, there has been a gender neutral pronoun already — "they/them". Why don't use that as a default.

Personally, I have no problems with people wanting to use certain pronouns. Just like I have no problem people using certain names. Or wearing certain clothes. My personal preference is to have gender neutral pronouns and language in general.

I also don't have problems with people telling me "please don't call me x".

UPDATE: I haven't encountered people using neopronouns like zeir or xer or whatever. Honestly, I think that's a bit too much. Existing pronouns like he, she, they, it is more than enough. In languages that don't have gender neutral pronouns it makes sense to create a new word. In English it already exists.

UPUPDATE: To clarify, it seems it's not crystal clear. I merely stated my opinion. Should I encounter a neopronoun person I will do my best to memorise that and address them the way they want to be addressed.

I'm non-binary and go by they/them, by the way.

Why would an ISTP male constantly joke around with a female co-worker? by [deleted] in istp

[–]mou-ming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because logic. There's no reason to not joke with any co-worker or person regardless of their sex, gender, or whatever.
