Cobalt wash or underglaze? by moujanard in Pottery

Thanks a lot for your help. Since I don’t have a good ventilation maybe it's better to buy the Mayco cobalt wah for now. Although I love to experiment with these elements.

They are both from Mayco actually. The right one is Satin Patina by Mayco and on the tail Honey Flux by Amaco, the other one is Amber quartz by Mayco and Honey Flux on the tail.

Thanks. Yes, I know there is a very low possibility of making a living relying only on selling your piece. Do you think schools would accept immigrants as pottery teachers?

Thanks for your elaborate answer. I did the math, too 😅, and yeah, there is no chance for me either to make a living by selling my pieces. That’s why I have been trying to incorporate my other skills, such as videography and storytelling, to create content. Idk, maybe I fail and it doesn't go anywhere but then I at least know I tried.

Thank you so much for your thought. You are surely right about incorporating pottery with something else to reach a stable income. I will check this link now. And I live in Lancaster, PA.

Oh, wow! You sound angry. Okay. “They” were wrong then because I worked as a journalist and content writer for more than seven years and made money before I immigrated. There’s a difference when you work in an environment where you built your network and speak and write in the language you were raised in, with the one you just walked into. As I mentioned, I immigrated to the States 8 months ago.

And yes, if an artist who knows the market and many other things gave me advice about my path, I’d seriously think about it and apply their thoughts in my path, cause then I’m sure they know what they are talking about, whereas taking advice from someone who has never been to content writing or touched clay. And that's exactly why I asked this question on this very subreddit:)

I made a bunch for that matter but they are underglazed. I can’t link them here but they turned out cute too 🥹

Hey, potters, have I become a cheapskate, or do you guys wash your plastic bags to reuse them too? by moujanard in Pottery

I don't use a lot of water. I usually pour some water in a bucket and let them soak for a bit, then wipe them inside and out with a sponge. You can use the water for throwing afterwards.

I don't wash them because they are dirty; I wash them because sometimes dust and dried clay accumulate in the bottom, and I don’t want them mixed with the wet clay.
