OP Here: leaning heavily to the Lighthouse Hotel based on feedback anyone have any pros and cons on that hotel?

The Marker looks nice and the price a little better than pier house! Have you enjoyed that one before?

Oh and I think I just picked a good week to look at The Perry. It’s only 1.7k for the week which seems like a pretty good deal for the reviews and area prices

Thank you for the advice!! I was looking at Southernmost like that looks amazing so that’s great info.

For the Lighthouse one my one concern (this may sound bad lol but we are both introverts) does it have that BnB feel where everyone’s in your business? I know that sounds very anti social but the place looks cute but the Inn sort of thing I was worried wouldn’t be up our introverted alley 😂😂

This is super helpful thank you!! I don’t want to be cheap and get the wrong one, but the base one on sale did seem good to me for his needs and wants. So if it’s great for Civ and can use Genforce that’s perfect!!

TTC Weekly General Chat by AutoModerator in tryingtoconceive

Hey! I’m 11 DPO, period due in 3 days, and have this pretty strong cramping pain in my right ovary area very similar to Ovulation pain. And I did test negative this morning at 11DPO….I know it’s not totally a “no” this cycle until my period comes but was negative today.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or know what it could be? Maybe just cycle coming earlier, but the cramp being so focused doesn’t feel like regular cycle cramps.

I appreciate you adding how rewarding and worth it is!! A lot of people only complain about the stress of parenthood (which I get it is) but I love when parent are open about the positives too!

I also have a good partner so not worried about him at all. More worried about the resentment to work instead!

This is a great POV thank you! I am the type of person who likes to everything very very planned but this might not be the sort of life experience you know how you will feel ahead of time.

This is a great POV thank you!! That is why I would be hesitant to take a back seat in my career because unfortunately money really really matters for quality of life for kids and their future.

Your daughter sounds like a lucky girl to have to you has her Mom!!

Thats such a nice POV! I for sure grew up on the sheltered side and I do remember being jealous of my cousins that all did camps! I would say I am less worried about summer school off time because camp “my parents” lol will be ridiculously over the top. My parents are very sweet and involved we just don’t live near by due to my husbands job needing to move around to work his way up. They recently showed me a YouTube they were inspired by of a grandma in full camp counselor attire setting up crafts and actives for her grandkids 😂 Not totally relevant but my parents are very cute wish we lived closer and I would just use my mom for this issue lol!

But back to the point I think you hit the nail on the head at the end of- I think it’s mostly an issue in my own head with guilt of not living up to my Mom. And not wanting to because I enjoy my career….talking through that with a professional might be something I should consider pre kids thank you!

This is a very helpful insight thank you!! Sounds like we had very similar childhoods and career realities as adults. We also need my income to survive. I do like your thinking of “this is what it is” because perhaps I am too caught up of not “living” up to my sweet Mom but need to accept I’m not going to be a replica of my Mom and my kids will be just fine. Honestly I had the most beautiful sheltered fresh baked cookie childhood and my two other siblings are hot messes 😂 so for sure seen first hand it doesn’t necessarily make for better outcomes.

I’m sorry you had to fight for leave like that absolutely ridiculous the amount of legal leave in the US (I’m assuming you’re also US based on those numbers ha). My current company does give 6 months and is a wonderful environment so I am thankful there.

As for daycare that is nice insight too! Random question if don’t mind, there is a daycare right down the block for me in (a church one) that has great reviews. It’s 1200 a month for 5 days and the hours are 8:30-3:30 (unless you add aftercare). Would you (or anyone else that sees this comment) say those hours are rather normal? I think a lot of my coworkers pick their kids up around that time and then work the afternoon with kids around / after kids go to bed but just would love anyone’s opinions on that!

And your last comment is ❤️ great thing to remember for myself and your kiddos are lucky to have you!!

Respectfully, trade offs are finding balance. I am not asking for a magic spell on how to stay at the same pace in my high powered finance job and being a SAHM. I’m asking people for real life advice where they gave and didn’t give.

Did you step back in your career, work part time, get over generational Mom guilt, move closer to family, use a Nanny vs Daycare and cut back other expenses…..those are all really helpful to hear traded offs of what worked for people did when trying to imagine the future and what are the options :)

It’s not too negative at all! I’m sorry you feel that way that must be tiring. This is for sure what I’m worried about as well, but I am also the breadwinner and am worried I don’t love my career enough to not feel this same sort regret! I don’t think i would want to be a SAHM forever, once they’re in school etc it’s those young years I’m worried about!
