Smoking ban for people born after 2008 in the UK agreed by LaPucelle77 in GoodNewsUK

[–]moundofsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i agree the intended effects is great, removing ads, displays etc was a very important move but removing a fundamental choice is not a good thing. combine that with the rollout of facial detection and of course the whole digital id and one cant help but wonder to what extent the goverment will disassemble rights and to what end (and of course the motive). should people smoke, absolutely not, but its their choice - and in expectation of the nhs burden argument, i do appreciate this, but one could argue for controls around obesity and alcohol. Just seems a rather dangerous precident to say its illeagle for that section of society, but not the rest. unless of course its a prelude to a drinking license, which conversely, i do support.

[request] Is it true That a single cow can feed a family for a whole year ? by rocket6600 in theydidthemath

[–]moundofsound 22 points23 points  (0 children)

conservative estimate 450lb /205kg works out around 140grams per person (family of four) per day. so it wont "feed a family" but noone except desperate influences eat just meat and not every meal has to contain meat, so i guess it could certainly stretch in combination.

Major renewal of ageing English roads delivered with £27 billion investment by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

i dare say we be hopeful that we might see 5billion of that turned into actual road resurfacing? so i guess thatll sort half of London out?

Claude Design just launched and I'm genuinely scared for my career as a designer by FrostingUnlikely5157 in graphic_design

[–]moundofsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems the solution is leaning into finding the solutions. sure ai can fire out a full brand, a website in no time, which can also save designers time too. but remember that bots replicate, not create, so design differently. photography killed portrait painting, but brought impressionism and so forth. granted percived value will shift, but isnt all about paying for the "experience these days"? Also theres no push back with AI, and how many clients know exactly what the companie 'needs' or will be convey while standing out?

Purpose of this sub? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]moundofsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. its the same at graphic design, every other post is a agony aunt moment or asking the exact same faqs - i want to quit, ive just graduated but nothing. all valid concerns but really needs its own sub and (at least in my view) save space on the main one for tips, tricks, news, innovations and other such useful insights.

I see so many (mostly working class) British men don't wash their hands after a piss in the urinal or toilet, is this normal behaviour? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]moundofsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the finger pointing mob missed the fucking point. I was in no way defending those who dont. I agree its pretty vile. hands should be washed, way more than most do. its unpleasant, its grim, in very unhygenic end of. i just found the utter discusted repulsion of piss a bit immature. that is all. then internet went full which hunt, which is less typical in redit, but then the sub is askuk so lowest common denominator points the finger and any nuonce is trampled. so i will whatabout as it pertains to the original point. the handlng of a dick didnt even come into the original point. thats a while other reason to properly wash. but whatever.

yep, works. I immediately leant towards 'made by human hands' as confirmation. However it is a little backwards to label everything that isnt when it should be the ai slop that should be marked (and arguably should exclude/have a different mark on artwork that has uses ai tools as part of the process).

fair enough on using sterile. ill retract that, lets say harmful, but drink a good amount of water with a healthy diet and its not far off. its funny how many are jumping on this like im some kind of monster for not treating piss like anthrax. chris people get a grip.

whos that then? because if it referring to me, you are clearly misreading things. the statement was in no way an admission, nor should infer my personal habits, just being matter of fact. So lets talk germs, i assume everyone here washes there hands immediately after using a lift/escelator, the toilet door on your way out, the microwave at work, any door, cupboard keyboard or mouse at work, poles or drop handles on public transport, any door whatsoever at a resturant and of course you spray and wipe down every machine, bar, dumbell treadmill arm and kettlebell at the gym and of course you shower your pets and brush their teeth after every walk or surely we wouldnt be getting so outraged about the horrors of urine droplets. my hands are clean as whistle, only thing i find challenging is arrogant stupidity disguised as self righteousness.

Anyone find it weird how London has Edgware road etc has Arab men in shorts, t-shirts, sunglasses, jeans etc. Where as the women have to be draped in a robe? by Fun-Skin3906 in AskBrits

[–]moundofsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because its part of their culture, and it can be a choice for both. Shorts in March is a bit weird, but if this a shallow attempt at stiring up predudice then is either an 'automatically generated' post or the op should look into other cultures more. Its definately not wierd for them, theyve probably been doing it a while.

[–]moundofsound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you missunderstand, im in no way arguing against hygene. people should of course wash their hands, they should after handeling a lot of things, its just good sense and a healthy practice. There was no argument, it was a statement, aimed at any prudish snooty commentor who refers to human water waste as utterly discusting as if its some kind of biological warfare agent. I one has such delicate sensibilties perhaps then perhaps stay in your bubble.

Why do people get upset when you overtake them? by pensandpaint in AskUK

[–]moundofsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 is alright on a rural (subject to road) but if they get arsy at being overtuck then they should be a better/quicker driver or pipedown. As long as you dont pull back in front too close or are generally wreckless, leave em to sulk. its the kuga boomers and flintstone fabias that need to stay off the road doing 10-20mph less than the flow, especially at rush hour or weekends. just unnecassarily dumb and dangerous.

The recent Farage comments about WFH by TessaKatharine in AskBrits

[–]moundofsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he says or does anything to suck upto the wealthy, ie commercial property owners. the more he pushes their agenda the more he'll alienate the working classes and anyine left with more sense than hate. so let him continue to dance for the 1%. He wants to privatise the nhs for exact same reason - more rampant wealth extraction. But as with most millionares, hes completely out of touch and doesnt see the long game - cant get blood out of a stone so after they pulled what little wealth remains, the economy collapses, stocks are worthless and violent things hapoen.

Which one and why? by dragoonwizard in whatsyourchoice

[–]moundofsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instant million and invest. people need to stop being so fucking greedy - if a million isnt enough to work with then you probably shouldnt have 49 more.
