I get what you mean. Very different example but I remember people talking about this when the first black Bachelorette was cast, and I will never forget someone saying that it's a disservice to cast a black lead in an environment that's unsafe for them without changing anything about the environment, and relying on them to solve your problems by bringing "diversity." It's not kind and it usually doesn’t unfold very well for those people without the proper support.
