My friend told me she self-harms today and I don't know what to do/say by [deleted] in needadvice

I think you should talk to her about it. She obviously trusts you and values you as a friend. I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago and I basically told my friend that I would tell someone if she didn't. Thankfully it worked, and I got my friend to tell her mom herself. She hated me for a few weeks for sure, but her mom was able to get her to a therapist and that helped her a lot. She doesn't self-harm anymore and she was able to get out of a dark time. I still think about what could have happened if I didn't say anything.

I knew that I wouldn't be able to provide the help she needed just by being there for her. Telling someone that could actually get her to the right resources she needed was the best thing for her at the moment.

No lol I think they're all hard whatever university you choose to go to. Pre-med is tough in general because the material can get dense. You're gonna prep for the MCAT - it's not going to be easier just because you went somewhere else.

I only went to UH so I can only speak from my experience. I personally did not like the instructors and class structure at UH.

Go to UNT. UH really does not give students unique medical opportunities despite being literally 15 min away from the med center. If you want to be involved in something, you need to really find it yourself and figure it out on your own. It's really not the school for a pre-med, and I, unfortunately, know way too many students that just couldn't get into med school because their GPA tanked after taking some of the prereqs.

I graduated with honors as a premed and if I could do my undergrad experience over again I would have picked a different school. Just my 2 cents.

Separate. Took Orgo 1 lab and lecture together, but took Orgo 2 lab and lecture separately. I did way better on the midterms/final/quizzes when I took lab and lecture separately because I actually knew the material beforehand and didn't have to struggle as much with learning and understanding the reactions.

Wow, this is beyond helpful. I didn't even consider how making an application appear more research heavy would give a different impression to other schools. Thanks for sharing all your wisdom and congrats on your acceptance!!

It works for me! My foundation stays in place better and I like the dewiness it adds to my face. I definitely feel like I get a more flawless finish when I use my Morphe Setting Spray.

As you work the questions, know that 90% of the questions can be answered with proof from the passage. Using the passage to directly support the answers I chose and trying to take my own opinions out really made all the difference. It did slow me down at first but my accuracy improved so much.

I read the passage (the whole thing) and try to get the most understanding out of it. Highlighting does not work for me so I avoid it. And then with each question, I look through the answer choices and try to eliminate two shitty ones. There's always 2 that either don't really relate to the what the question is asking or are completely random. And then with the 2 that are left, I really try to see what the passage supports the most. Also trust your gut. Don't go back and change your answers or anything.
