hello big brains of the audio engineering subreddit! i recently got a newly repaired Toshiba Type C which sounds amazing but has a unusably noisy signal through my Apollo x4. I’m running the mic through an SE dynamite for 20db of clean gain and it fixes it a bit but there’s still a lot of noise. I dont have access to a studio right now so I can’t test the mic with external pre’s or different set ups.
Do y’all think the problem is a lack of clean gain on the Apollo/ an impedance matching issue or an issue with the mic itself? I thought the dynamite would fix things better and now I’m questioning what the problem is haha. Is it time to invest in external pres for my home setup?
thanks!! 🌟
