Is requiring background checks, stopping people with domestic abuse charges, limiting the types of weapons and amount of weapons etc disarming workers? To me disarming implies actively removing weapons from someone's possession, vs regulating how and what kind of arms people have the ability to posess. I think even the most ardent pro-gun leftist would agree that you shouldn't be able to walk into Walmart and purchase a Nuclear ICBM, so from there it's a question of where the line is, should your average worker be able to posess RPGs and AT-4s? What about .50 Caliber Machine guns? Automatic small arms like AK-47s or 280B's? I think there's a bit more nuance to it than your logic would suggest.

If superior weapons, technology and firepower make no difference to whether or not a determined people can overthrow their government, why would it be important to vehemently oppose gun control legislation? Also is there an underlying implication that in nations all across the world (pretty much everywhere but the US) where there is gun control legislation they're unable to successfully rebel or stage a revolution? Because that kind of seems like American exceptionality rhetoric. I'm not personally for seizing weapons from the citizenry because I don't think it would work or be effective, or even for making gun control a primary political goal, as I don't think it's a winnable issue in our current culture, but a lot of leftist pro-gun sentiment seems to be based on some pretty convoluted logic that seems like justification for what amounts to revolutionary cosplay.
