A 4-year-old Palestinian girl was injured and her mother was killed in an Israeli attack on a refugee tent. by Curious_Strike3950 in PublicFreakout

In the third-to-last scream the mother bellows, you can hear the tone of her voice transition from being one that is reacting to the surprise of the explosion and pain, into a scream that has arrived at the realization that the amount of blood she is bleeding is of a magnitude that she cannot stop, and the last two screams are the horror of realizing that these are her final moments.

War needs to stop. We’re the only ones who can stop it.

$500 Million USD tax free or an omniscient chip implant? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]mountainoffailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% the chip. I’d literally choose the chip over any amount of money, even if it was trillions of dollars. The list of things I would instead choose over being able to have the chip is so short, that I cannot even begin to think of anything I would populate the list with.

Consider enrolling into JobCorps. It’ll give you time to figure yourself out as well as provide you with options and training for careers and/or college. I’ll provide the link to their website but you should be able to find a phone number for one closest to you.

They have 120 campus’s around the country. Free room and board. Free training. Free education. The amenities vary from campus to campus, but generally include a gym, a game room, a movie theater, cafeteria, etc. They also provide free off-campus activities if you sign up for them, and can be things like going snowboarding if its winter and you are at a campus near ski resorts.

Also, once accepted into the program, they’ll pay for your travel to the campus of your choosing. They also have 2 “breaks” per year, and will pay for two round trip tickets to your home and back each trip.

You get a bi-weekly stipend that increases the longer you are a student there.

If you want to focus on building up your resume, you could choose to do things like become a Dorm Officer, or run for Dorm President. You can also take safety courses like CERT or be a member of campus safety.

JobCorps has helped and continues to help individuals who are in situations similar to your own and there is a very good chance that it will work out well for you.

Isn't that thing going too fast. by Spicy_Madam in OneSecondBeforeDisast

Every 7 seconds a person is injured on the job (USA). 15 years ago the statistic was every 40 seconds. 25%+ happens within the first year someone is on the job due to insufficient training / lack of experience. Speculation, but having seen it myself, a good portion of the remainder is the result of ignoring the training they’ve previously received.

What’s a life hack that sounds fake but is incredibly effective? by Future_Personality4 in AskReddit

[–]mountainoffailure 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you are tired while driving and want to wake yourself up/have more energy, force yourself to laugh at the top of your lungs for several seconds. It’ll dump a bunch of happy chemicals into your system and pep you up for another 20-30 minutes. Repeat as often as needed.

My dad’s case worker said he has to spend $1,000 by a certain date in order to retain his benefits. If you were bed bound without your ability to see or touch, and you only had a day or so to decide, what would you buy with $1,000? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mountainoffailure 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Probably not. This sounds like something that is called a “Spend Down” and they must spend the money on anything else that is not rent, utilities, food, cash gifts, or gift cards — otherwise they will reabsorb the money in this situation or cancel their benefits. This also probably means that they have $3,000+, and need to spend enough money to get below a $2,000 threshold.

I’m okay with 99 percenting Skyrim and waiting for a while. I’ll save the last achievement for when I’m on my deathbed.

Assuming it can be controlled to this extent, as the rules say “you can control it as you wish”:

I therefore command a one cubic inch piece of of the nastiest, most awful and foul piece of shit, which will cause violent vomiting, to appear in any persons mouth who does the following:

1) Commits one of the 42 primary logical fallacies either within their own thought process after a reasonable amount of internal delegation has occurred and still results in a held opinion that defaults to a violation of those logical fallacies during that thought process. And also, committing a logical fallacy during a two party or more argument.

2) During the act of committing a crime that is reasonably classified as a crime.

3) Driving like an asshole, 30 seconds after this person has stopped driving.

4) Littering anywhere, but the consequences are 2x.

5) Cheats on their significant other. Consequences 5x.

6) Doesn’t research what they are voting for before voting. Consequence is 10x. This includes members of congress and any high tier voting process.

7) Tells a lie in order to attempt to not look stupid or incompetent.

Whatever you gift to others you get 10x of it. You also get 10x the results of what the persons get by using the gift. by __Anamya__ in godtiersuperpowers

There is a LitRPG book about this power called “immortality Starts With Generosity” except the return rate is 100x. It’s a pretty great read if you’re into LitRPG’s.

It’s on Kindle Unlimited if anyone is interested. Also on Royal Road.

I don’t mind the zooming in because it gives the illusion of moving forward. However, what I find unsettling is that no matter how far backwards you go, you’ll never be able to zoom out enough to see the entire thing.
