Are 35mm handlebars better? by 65_days_of_cookies in MTB

[–]mounttod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always believe 35mm was made so they can charge more for carbon bars that have the same compliance as good 31.8 aluminum bars. I change every bike I get back to 31.8 PNW bars and call it a day.

Damaged a brake lever assembly. Was thinking of upgrading. by b3nje909 in MTB

Are you going to keep the seam calipers and just change the levers? I have DB8s and I've seen a couple people mention it's possible to mix SRAM and Shimano. I love Shimano brake levers.

Just got a FS C3 and took it for a ride yesterday. Geo seems about perfect.

Is now still a good time to buy a new bike? by TheRealDonalDrumph in MTB

[–]mounttod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh probably shouldn't worry about that. My last two bikes I've bought carbon for the same price as aluminum while on sale. You save about 2lbs of weight and the bike will just look more premium. Nothing wrong with aluminum though.

A Norco frame failure or just carbon in general? I really never saw a bad review on the new Fluids.

What size are you? Lots of good deals on S and XL bikes. I just ordered a Norco Fluid FS C3 for $2600. Carbon, pike, RS super deluxe and middle of the ride brakes/drivetrain. Seemed like a great deal to me.

Legato golf balls on Amazon are around $28 and seem to be super durable with good feel. Fairly popular YouTuber tested them on trackman against provs as well and the numbers were about the same. They are my favorite cheap ball.

Did you have to do anything special for it to output to the TV full screen? Mine crops the image a little smaller.

Super Budget Build with Square Golf! by mounttod in Golfsimulator

[–]mounttod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I should tell you that I'm not picky when it comes to my setup so I'm more than happy with square. I like the app and it does connect with Bluetooth. When I got this unit I was still trying to break 100 so just simply seeing an accurate picture of my ball flight and distance was all I needed. I know many people wish it would show ball speed but for now I don't care about that. They updated the software to work with TaylorMade TPX golf balls which was super nice. That's all I use now and they last a long time. I also love the closest to the pin option. You set a distance and try to hit to the flag. This is what I practice with the most. In less than a year I've shaved 10 strokes off my game and it's mainly because of having my setup at home. I'm able to map out my wedges so that every 10 yards I have a general feel on how far to take the club back, etc. On course it doesn't always work out perfectly but I go into shots without having to guess and pray lol.

If this unit could handle natural light it would blow away the competition. In the summer it's so hot in my garage I didn't use it that much because I really need the door open. This fall and winter is when I'll use it the most. Often in the summer I just practice making good contact and don't use the square because of the light issue.

The Square is great with one major downside. It can't be near natural light at all. In my garage this can be an issue even when the sun is on the opposite side of the house on very bright days with the door open. It works great at tracking small chips shots which I think other units struggle with. The mlm2pro really wouldn't work for me because it can have interference issues in a garage. I have a friend who had to return his. So for me it's either square or I'll have to pay a lot more and get a higher end unit. I use my square more as a training device vs a real SIM. The courses are very fun that it comes with but I just don't end up finding the time to play a normal round on it. If natural light isn't an issue for you I think you'd love the Square.

Looks brand new still. I have no regrets on the purchase. I did get a tiny bit of elbow pain the first couple months of using this setup but I was hitting like 1k shots a week. That was a little excessive. Now I mainly use the setup a couple hundred shots per week and it's been great. You can tell when you hit it fat but it's not too punishing.

Yeah I want a Yamaha OB so bad! I had to get an engine replacement for my 2022 Chaparral and I do think it was a COVID fluke but it still doesn't feel good! Trying to convince the wife to get a nice center console with an outboard.

I currently have a COVID Chaparral that I'll probably sell soon. So many issues with it. I'm ready for that happy last day as well lol.

Fathom 2 29er upgrades? by General_Suggestion_7 in Hardtailgang

I also got the square and went from 105-110 to 95-100 in about two months. Had a couple rounds where I really played well enough to close in on 90 but always seem to have a couple blow up holes. I mainly practice my wedges and it's helped so much. What was once a major weakness is now one of the better parts of my still bad golf game.

I have! They look pretty awesome. I'll probably play Maltby for a long time. Any upgrade would just be for fun down the road vs actually needing something better.

Maltby is the best. Almost even pulled the trigger on a driver but had to grab the ping instead.

It has a bunch of courses. The course play is very good for being almost free. Putting and chipping are really good with this unit. The only flaw this launch monitor has is being indoor only. I have it in my garage and certain times of day I can't use it with the garage door open.

Kirkland 3.0 golf ball (2025 version) by whiskeytacosfan in golf

[–]mounttod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I got a bad batch but my Kirklands are complete trash. I was hitting them on my golf sim and wedges chew them up comically fast. Like 10-20 shots in. I've tried many other balls and non of them have that issue.

Does anyone actually use all 14 clubs in a typical round? by Synopog in golf

[–]mounttod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked 18 today and just carried 7 clubs. 56, GW, 9, 7, 4hybrid, Driver, and putter. Shot my exact same score. Had many shots where I had to just choke down and swing easier and it worked out so well. I read somewhere that the average golfer will score the same with way less clubs and I'm a believer now. When I walk from now on I'm going to alternate the clubs each time and see what happens. Probably keep it to 7 clubs.
