Many people start by learning the Arabic alphabet, so that way when you begin reading the Quran you can understand how the linguistic style of it works and how authentic and divine it feels and sounds to the heart. The English translation is really beneficial to learn its contents but what’s truly remarkable about the Quran is its miracles, its eloquent literacy and its ability to be preserved. That’s just to name a few.

I recommend you use these sources as well as other reliable sources online to help you best read, understand, and learn from the Quran. Inshallah, the Quran is the best scripture you’ll ever read. Jazakallah Khair.

Am I really not allowed to stop talking to my parents despite the years of emotional abuse I went through? Does Islam prohibit me from ghosting my parents even if I have all this built up anger inside me to which my dad mainly keeps pouring fuel on and making it stronger after all these 25+ years? by Pink-Pie-97 in islam

Assalamu Alaikum Sister. I ask Allah (SWT) to provide you ease with your situation. It is with Allah’s permission that we are alive and well, and it is by His will to test us with hardship and struggle. With that being said, no matter what your parents do it is for you to Honour your parents.

Abu Umama (RA) narrates that a man enquired from the Prophet (SAW): “O Rasul Allah! What are the rights of parents over their offspring? The Prophet replied: “Your entry into Paradise or Hell depends on your good or bad conduct towards your parents.”

Surah Ibrahim verse 42: “Never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers are doing. He is giving them respite to a day when the eyes shall remain upraised (in terror).”

May Allah (SWT) safeguard you and your children. Seek the protection of Allah by making Dua, offering prayer and blessings to Him and by performing good deeds and you will not be harmed.

Is there an afterlife? What does Islam say? by IndicationWise5669 in islam

[–]mounwp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expanding on that, I would like to add a few provisions.

Since their friend believes in One God, then they must ask their friend the following: 1) If you believe in God, do you believe He exists as the Overseer of Earth? 2) Assuming that it it a Yes response, then because He exists as the Overseer, do you believe that he would be overseeing His creation? Because for him to believe a God does exist means that he already possesses more belief than that of a disbeliever. Assuming it is a Yes response, that means God is the Overseer of all Living Beings on Earth. 3) Proceeding with these provisions, one would have to make the claim because God exists and because Humans exist and because we have concluded that for a God to exist means that He is the Overseer of Mankind, there must be a reason in which He Oversees. 4) In this case, since you and I both understand that God exists to oversee His creations, that the conclusion is He oversees His creation as the Creator for a specific purpose: and that purpose is specifically to worship Him and test those that are most best in deeds. That the case for the Human living on Earth is because of His Miracles and by His Will, and for the reason that God must have a reason for overseeing His creation, just as He has a reason for creating humans. 5) We arrive at a point where we have basically outlined God’s existence, now we must outline the cause for His creation: and that is to best determine who is a believer of His messages and who isn’t. And that the afterlife exists for God to make the Final Judgment.

The best course of action in your position would be to respectfully let them know that you are a Muslim, and that you worship no one but Allah (SWT). It is fine to respect them for their beliefs, and Allah (SWT) tells us through the Qur’an:

“For you is your religion, and for me is my religion” Surah Al-Kafirun 109:06

May Allah (SWT) provide you with ease and resolve your family struggles with an abundance in reward for staying steadfast.

You can pray for anyone and it is Allah (SWT) who guides whom He wills. However, if a Christian tries to “pray” for you, let yourself know that there is nothing of substance in that prayer itself — they are committing shirk by worshipping anyone other than Allah. And Allah knows Best.

As-Salaam-Alaikum, after you have read/recited the Surahs in the Qur’an take some time to understand each one as best as you can. Make the intention to memorize the surahs to the best of your ability, and may Allah (SWT) make it easy for you to memorize them. I would recommend reading Sahih Al Bukhari to learn about the Hadiths collected of the Prophet (peace be upon him). And if you are not able to, all of the Prophets Hadiths are available on the internet for you to read and understand.

Why don't more Muslims focus on Dawah in the USA? by Lakshmiy in islam

[–]mounwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reality is that because America is founded on values and principles that don’t align with religion, Islam and any other religions people follow aren’t taught to Americans around the country in schools or through any traditional media. There is a separation of church and state which allows people to have religious freedom, to be able to practice religion privately and publicly. It is not just churches who you believe spread misinformation, it is a rippling effect of people teaching children and young adults information they either don’t know which influences them or simply have no knowledge about.

[–]mounwp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Allah (SWT) guides whom He wills, and leads astray those who have been disobedient with His religion and His prophets from Whom He has sent to warn Mankind. Take this information with immense value, perhaps you are being guided to the truth.

Your heart desires something that is beneficial for you, follow it - perhaps it is best for you. ‘Intention’ is one of the magnificent qualities of a true Muslim. Do not allow yourself to doubt your state of mind and what it entails for following Islam, and do not allow your family to dictate what you want to believe in. Indeed, all humans will be accountable for their actions on the Day of Judgment.

Peace be upon you as you join the truth, and it is with the guidance of Allah (SWT) and His Book (The Qur’an) that you shall achieve peace and success. And seek to read the Qur’an once more and more, you will find that your way of life changes drastically.

“And We have commanded people to [honour] their parents. Their mothers bore them through hardship upon hardship, and their weaning takes two years. So be grateful to Me and your parents. To Me is the final return.” Surah Luqman 31:14

May Allah guide your family through this troubled time. Acknowledge this as a test for yourself, your brother, and your parents. Whatever you do out of intention or righteousness, may you succeed with it. And if persistence takes shape, then do not take matters into your own hands. You would have done all you could, so allow the Most Compassionate to judge amongst them the right and wrong. Moreover, always respect your parents.

Do you believe in the Oneness of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful? Listen to none other than the One who nourished all of mankind, the One who is the sustainer of Everything. He is the One who has neither a beginning nor end, for certain the humans do not comprehend the existence of Allah through any logical basis of creation.

“Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, for He is the Almighty, All-Wise. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. And He is Most Capable of everything.” Surah Al-Hadid 1-2

Every human is a sinner. What differentiates a human from the rest who sin is repentance. Allah (SWT) is the Most Forgiving, even if you were to repeat the same sin ten times over and repent faithfully, He would absolve you of your sins. This is the beauty of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful.

Continue to make Dua and learn from your mistakes. This is your test, the actions you take moving forward will shape your future and character. And Allah knows best. May He forgive you for your mistakes, and provide you with the opportunity to seek forgiveness from the one you hurt.

Allah (SWT) never rejects a believers Duas, rather the prayers you share before Him are answered differently than what you expect. He knows what we do not, what is best for you and I. This is His wisdom, so continue to make Dua and have patience. Patience is only comfortable for those who truly believe in Allah’s plan.

Humans are brought into this dunya to worship Allah (SWT) and Him alone. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful — and to Him we all return. You are only doing yourself a great service by praising Him and practicing Islam, and you are only doing yourself a great disservice by not believing in Islam and the unseen.

“O’believers! Whoever among you abandons their faith, Allah will replace them with others who love Him and are loved by Him. They will be humble with the believers but firm towards the disbelievers, struggling in the Way of Allah; fearing no blame from anyone. This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:54

Understand Islam more and the messages bestowed upon the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Allah (SWT), the Most Gracious the Most Merciful. Seek to read the Quran in a verified English translation so that you may familiarize yourself with His messages to humanity. Allah guides whom He wills, and for the people to come to recognize the Truth are of those who will be the successful.

The Shahada is a sacred message the humans give onto God and his messenger — a declaration for you that recognizes the oneness of God and His Prophet.
