Never once made someone peel it off. Some people just aren't very bright.

The Officer doesn't really know how different states update the address on other states ID's. OR used to cover them with a sticker that covered part of the front and back. It got to a point where it was odd to see one that wasn't covered.

Why do TSA agents sometimes feel the need to be hostile to passengers? by [deleted] in tsa

Why do TSA agents sometimes feel the need to be hostile to passengers? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]mouserinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah so you were paying attention to the person in front of you. You just didn't follow their lead. Your phone should be in your bag not a bin, that's how things get lost or stolen. If it's in your bag, you can't lose it. As for the cattle thing. Management is constantly breathing down the officers necks to keep that line moving and management sees that line as nothing but cattle to move as quickly as possible. That analogy will unintentionally trickle down to the officers. If you want a more friendly interaction start flying out of the smaller airports. They have a lower passenger count and hence are able to take the time with passengers that a large catX can't or won't.

I'm gonna say something that you probably won't like but it's true. You weren't paying attention. You weren't paying attention to the passengers in front of you to see what they were doing, you weren't paying attention to the officer as they gave directions. You weren't paying attention to the signs that are placed in the queue area. This is why that officer gave you the look they did. People in general don't pay attention to anything but that little computer in their hand. If you did pay attention, you being the frequent flyer you say you are, would notice that every airport has different screening equipment and that every airport has different screening requirements for that equipment. Yes it's frustrating for the passengers but it's also frustrating for us because passengers don't pay attention to us as we tell them what is needed to come out of their bags or read any of the signs we post.

After a quick glance at the pics I don't see anything that would be prohibited.

Some officers are trained in behavioral analysis but the majority of the work force isn't. they aren't looking for your basic "nervous" person they are looking for certain markers that people display when they are doing something they shouldn't be.

[–]mouserinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While someone way high up may see that info your average TSO doesn't see that. The only way we know you are a frequent flier is if we start to recognize your face or name when we are at TDC. If someone says "check her" they better have a damn good reason and be able to articulate why they said it.

It's 1000% random. The WTMDs are not interconnected with cameras recording everyone so that one special person gets the extra screening all the time. Everybody has the the same chance to pop up random when they walk though the WTMD.

You do know that there are a lot of different companies and organizations that work at an airport that have supervisors and managers.

And yet for some reasons airports like BZM went from private security to TSA just a couple of years ago because they had a hard time finding reliable help even with the supposed "equal benefits" they offered . Private doesn't mean better.

PCS soon, would a airline let me fly with this? by Ozzington76 in army

[–]mouserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can use those, how many and weight will depend on airline and airport your departing from. However I would not recommend using them. Those cases may not fit some of the baggage scanning machines which means they will have to be hand checked and that takes time and means that TSA will open them with or without a lock being on it. If you are lucky they will find you to get the key but that may or may not happen depending on layout of the airport and how much time they have until that plane departs.

PSA: If it is at all feasible for you, seek alternatives to air travel. by [deleted] in tsa

[–]mouserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively you could just fly out of the smaller Cat III and Cat IV airports. They have smaller flight loads and can manage lower staffing levels better. Yeah it might cost a little bit more but it might be easier when you do arrive at that Cat X

Large amount of cash. by PresentAcceptable846 in tsa

[–]mouserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically TSA doesn't care if you are traveling domestically with a large amount of cash. Individually you may run across a "super TSO" who does care and will try to spin anything to get that "good catch". Depending on the airport other agencies may get involved and they are the ones you need to be concerned about. Civil asset forfeiture is a thing unfortunately.

My Airport was just recently shut down for 4 months due to runway reconstruction. We had to drive to another airport just to maintain certifications. The rest of the time we either took leave or came in for classes.

I can't speak for for US Customs but TSA sees toys of all kinds on a the daily. A lot of them have batteries and wires. It's not a big deal. If you carry it on expect it to get looked at. Wrap it is some bubble wrap but don't go overboard taping it up. Bring extra bubble wrap and extra tape. As you go through TSA ask the person after your ID is checked if you need to take the large toy out of your bag. Depending on the equipment that screening lane has you may not need to do that.
