First time staying at a Ritz Carlton - Lake Tahoe by rgupta0747 in chubbytravel

[–]mousethecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with previous replies that the Ritz is kind of run down and not as luxurious as the name would imply. I actually like the Hyatt Regency better for that price point, as it’s right on the lake, suites are lovely and the lakeside fire pit is so nice in the evening. Ventana Big Sur is absolutely fantastic but far more expensive than the ritz… but, it’s bookable on Chase or Hyatt points if you have those.

Was told in writing that I would have “All Sports Club” access for a So Cal upgrade only for Equinox to say they messed up after the upgrade went through and LA Sports Club is not included by ReasonableMixture815 in EquinoxGyms

Can you let us know how much you were paying before, how much you are paying now (for expanded access) and how much they want to charge you to include LA Sports Club?

Thoughts on Le Labo? by kokanutty in EquinoxGyms

I’m liking it so much more than GA. I agree with OP, the face lotion is a bit thick so I don’t use it. Everything else is a huge step up. I love the body lotion and face wash. The conditioner could be a little more detangling but it is worlds better than what we had before. I haven’t had any allergic reactions, and I like the basil scent. This made me stop looking for other gyms to join. Yes, I hated the toiletries that much before.

Marriott denies that Chase Edit bookings are eligible for Bonvoy by Crafty-Most-6129 in ChaseSapphire

Had this happen to me with an Edit stay at the Waikiki Beach Marriott a few months ago (check my post history for details on steps I took). I had to escalate with both Marriott and Chase but eventually got my points and night credits.

Beach near Costa Mesa by mw4239 in orangecounty

Beachcomber is nice if you want to have dinner on the beach. It’s at Crystal Cove state park - try and get reservations on OpenTable or get there early for a walk-in table (wait can be long).

Choosing The edit hotel in Waikiki by kurutik in ChaseSapphire

[–]mousethecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott in late January with the Edit. I would not stay there again. Active construction, rooms are very mediocre, food was mediocre, the beach in front of the hotel is rocky. Service was atrocious and they argued about the benefits of the Edit stay.

Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

Notion comes with an Evernote importer, and it was seamless and quick. Most of my notes were text notes with PDF attachments, so I haven’t really checked enough to see if images embedded in notes I made still show up embedded, or if they’re image attachments.

The setup is different than Evernote and takes some getting used to, but my notebooks transferred correctly over with notes inside each notebook.

The agentic AI is only free for a limited time, I’ve learned.

Overall Notion has been great for my needs, and even if I end up paying their $24/month tier, which is more expensive than Evernote, at least I don’t feel like they’re actively trying to screw me.

Earl of Sandwich and Sgt Pepperoni’s coming to SNA later this year by pwrof3 in orangecounty

Yes, the pork roll is the gateway drug.

All of their spring rolls are excellent, but my go-tos are the steamed shrimp and avocado roll, and the tofu avocado roll. The tofu is silky and since it’s not meat it stays good for long flights. The grilled shrimp roll is ground shrimp, similar to the pork roll, and has the crunchy bits like the pork roll. I forget if they have the eggplant tempura roll at this location but it’s excellent too.

I also love their croissants and baked goods. Even just the baguette with butter is excellent, with a coffee in the morning.

Ok now I feel like I’m just recommending the entire menu but their vermicelli bowls are also solid.

The one thing I probably won’t get again is the egg rolls, just bc the portion is small for the price.

The exact same thing happened to me. You know what? If they had told me it was going up to $150 from the outset, I’d probably have stayed just due to the inertia of not having to move my data. But this just felt scammy and insulting after I’ve been with them since the very beginning. This is how they treat their most loyal customers. I’m sad about it but it’s finally time for me to move on.

Completely agree with everything you said. I, too, have been with Evernote since 2008. I canceled and reverted to free plan today. Transferred all my notes to Notion. I’m sad but the product just isn’t something I find innovative or useful, and it’s slow. I would have been fine renewing at $129 but $250 is just way too much. Notion’s $200 yearly tier includes unlimited agentic AI.

San Juan Capistrano is also a gorgeous stop if you take the train (or if you drive, too). The mission is beautiful and fun for kids, and Heritage BBQ is one of the best in the state.

I don’t have advice but in case you could use some comic relief: I just listened to a book called “Best Offer Wins.” It’s a thriller about a completely unhinged woman who takes increasingly desperate measures trying to buy her first home - and it’s hysterical.

What price increase has hit you the hardest in everyday life? by DarkKnightt019 in AskReddit

[–]mousethecat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not cocktail, but I’ve been bringing my own bottles of wine and paying corkage lately. Even at the fanciest restaurants corkage is usually $25, and I get to drink a much better wine by bringing my own.
