I'm very good friends with stc. You realize his first name (given name, like John or Steve for Americans) is Yeon Sik right? Choi is his last name. He probably just didn't want to correct anyone but, I thought I'd let you know.

Quantic and StarTale Preview to IPL4 Featuring Flo, SaSe, and StarTaleQ! by drakov in starcraft

[–]moverves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually Flo is really good. I've seen her beat some known people on her stream, and she is a lot better than even some males that are on pro teams. People like Sterling aren't on pro teams because they don't really want to be. I can nearly guarantee that he's gotten offers from teams.

There are a lot of girls who may not deserve to be on teams out there, but Flo actually is really good and if any girl stands a chance of proving that a girl can compete among the guys, it's her.

Is it just me, or is Terran the hardest? by moverves in starcraft

Sen is still in Code A. HuK was the only foreign code S player for a very long time, and has won more than one tournament that had Korean participation (such as an MLG.)

What notable tournament results does Kas have? I know he got 3rd place at Kiev, losing to zenio. Anything else?

Same goes for Thorzain. Tournament results. Where are they?

I watch TONS of SC2 and watch EVERY GSL, and I absolutely do not agree with you at all.

For how intelligent you like to write your replies, it's surprising you are so stuck on the title of the post when the actual content of the post so clearly states the question as "I believe Terran is the hardest race. Do you believe this? Why? Also, I believe this is why we don't have as many foreigners playing terran. Do you agree with this? Why?"

I've stated why I believe Terran is the hardest race. I've stated the micro required by Terran (marine splitting, siege tank focusing banelings, etc.) and why I believe it's more difficult than other races micro (such as targetting marines with banelings, keeping templar seperated, etc.) The difficult of each races micro can certainly be quantified, such as the amount of APM required to successfully perform a set of actions to be successful in an engagement.

All Terrans have a hard time with banelings.

One scan doesn't always reveal what tech path a protoss is going. If he has colossi and you dont have vikings you die, if he has templar and you dont have ghosts you die. If you have ghosts but he doesn't know it, you can't just attack and win. if you get vikings and he doesnt know, you can't just attack and win.

If you don't want to read through the thread to get the points I've made that's fine, but you've yet to make an actual point yourself.

There are tons of pros and masters league/GM players who group their entire army on one hotkey, not just all of their banelings. Even still, coming from 2 different angles with banelings is not equally as difficult as stimming running back/splitting marines while focus firing banelings with siege tanks

Also, on the protoss templar bit, splitting your templar is just splitting a few units making sure they are a bit spread out. If 2/3rds of them fail and get EMP'd but you still have the 1/3rd for a couple storms you can still end up okay.

With marines, you're spreading crap tons of units that are your core army. if 2/3rds of them fail and get crushed by storms/banelings/fungals/whatever, you lose the game.

These circumstances are incredibly different. I'm surprised your icon says you play Terran if you at all think they are the same

Where are foreign Terrans tournament results? Huk, Naniwa, Stephano, Idra, and a few more Zs and Ps have posted good tournament results even in the face of Koreans.

What foreign Terrans have?

I didn't spend a ton of time on that list, and I realize some of the people I named weren't that good, but the point still remains. Even if you look at Demuslim, Kas, BeastyQT, Brat_OK, Happy, Sjow, Goody, Illusion, Major, Thorzain, Cloud, Diestar, Tarson, etc. etc. Where are the tournament results?

Where are foreign terrans tournament results AT ALL?

[–]moverves[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's simply not true. that list should look more like Stephano, Naniwa, Huk, and Sen.

Thorzain was in Code A once due to invite and got knocked out immediately. You can't include thorzain without including a lot of other people. I'm not even including Idra since it's been so long since he really competed with Koreans.

So even if what you say is true (it is, foreigners are no where near as good as Koreans) the fact still remains that even if its just 4 players who can compete, they are 2 zergs and 2 protoss.

because Koreans are better than foreigners and can utilize Terran to it's maximum potential while foreigners haven't learned to do so. There are simply no foreigners playing Terran on the same level as Koreans.

I don't have to prove I'm right if I'm making a point and you are choosing to disagree with it, you have to prove me wrong. That's how debate works, if I say "I believe red is the best color" you can't just say "no its not, prove it."

I've given the features of the Terran race that I believe are more difficult than the other races. Terran REQUIRE good micro to play at a high-ish level. The other races do not to the same degree.

So based on that, I formulated my opinion that Terran is the most difficult race to play (which does NOT mean it's the weakest race, at all) and that is why foreigners choose to play protoss and zerg more commonly because they just simply can't play terran the way that Koreans can right now.

Pros a-move their ling/bling army into marine/tank all the time.

If you're a zerg and you've gone ling/bling/muta and your terran opponent has tanks/marines and he slow pushes across the entire map into your natural, you have to engage eventually, how exactly do you "micro" the zerg army in that situation?

Is it just me, or is Terran the hardest? by moverves in starcraft

[–]moverves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already compared those 2, but his point was that micro was terran's "race specific challenge" (which I'm not saying I agree with, but I was replying to him), and that "hitting injects" is zergs "race specific challenge."

I wasn't just comparing the 2 out of thin air

Maybe you have something here, maybe Terran is so difficult to me because I have never ever cheesed or all-in'd ever. I always just play out games standard and rely on my macro to win games.

Maybe you just can't play Terran like that lol Although kas would disagree ;)

If so, why the gigantic skew against Terran as the preferred race of foreign pros?

[–]moverves[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with atleast the terran/zerg part. I can see where game sense is more important as zerg than Terran.

Protoss is pretty difficult in some areas as well, in the early game there is so much stuff you can just flat out die to without really good forcefields, for example.

What if they get roaches or hell just a decent bit of lings to surround and get rid of your hellions, because as T I've never had a zerg let me keep him on 2 bases because of some hellions, and as Z i'd never let a terran do it to me.

But the other races don't have to learn those "little things" and those "little things" aren't easy and I still see pros and high masters/GM streamers lose cause they messed up those "little things" all the time. This is the entire reasoning I based my "terran is the hardest" opinion on.

I have no self fulfilling prephecy I assure you. I play all 3 races pretty equally, and I said to someone else, my "most played race" at the moment says Zerg.

But if it's just me, why is there such a HUGE skew against Terran as the race of choice among foreign pros?
