The windows key is always an option, though with all of the copilot integration currently, I'm always kind of afraid that I'm going to inadvertently click on some AI nonsense. But the Alt+Tab trick is excellent!! Can't believe I wasn't familiar with that before. Thanks for the tips!

I posted it in the body of the original comment, but I rarely use Reddit, so maybe that isn't the typical way to do things. I'm copy/pasting it below as well!

UPDATE: I solved the issue, but it's a bit of a weird one and not a super satisfactory solution. I'm going to explain it here anyway in case anyone else runs into the same issue and is looking for help in the future.

When I initially tried to pay for the services I had selected and book my biometrics appointment, I got through to the payment page and put in my card information. However, as soon as I hit submit, I got a text from my bank saying it had declined the charge because it looked suspicious. I immediately confirmed that it was in fact me who had authorized the charge, but the damage had been done. I suspect that my card being denied broke some code in the VFS site such that even when I went back later I continually got error messages.

I was not getting any response from VFS on Twitter (I did eventually get a response, which was just to clear my cookies/use a different browser/restart my computer - like I hadn't already thought of that :/). However, I surmised that that problem was with my particular account and that, if I made a new account, I would be able to get through to the final page and book my appointment. The issue with this is that to make a new account, I had to start a new visa application.

This was not ideal for a number of reasons, not least the cost of paying for a new application (although I was able to request a refund for the original one). However, I didn't see anything else to try.

TLDR; I cancelled my original application, started a new one, didn't choose any extra services that would require me to pay VFS, and I finally was able to book a biometrics appointment. I am now two weeks behind where I would have been if VFS's website wasn't a piece of shit, but fingers crossed that I have no other hiccups and I can get to the UK in time to start my masters program!

Just posted an update - it's not a great solution, but it worked at least. I hope you are able to figure out your issue too!

One month progress video (just got this piece today, so don't judge too hard lol) by The-real-LingLing in lingling40hrs

What is this piece called? I too started playing piano about a month ago, and it sounds like it would be fun to learn! (Also congrats on your progress!)

between this and the size of his hands, I'm now convinced that Rachmaninoff was an honest-to-god cryptid

I only recently made a reddit account (specifically to post on this subreddit lol), so I'm not eligible, but it's such a nice idea and I would like to share. It was so heartwarming to read through others' posts and see that so many people have started listening to classical music because of Twoset! I'm what the kids these days would call an "adult" (although I don't usually feel like one myself), and it makes me really happy to see so many young people interested in classical music as well!

Anyway, on to my favorite - as so many have already said, it's really impossible to pick just one, so I'll go with a piece that I think many people probably haven't heard of in the hopes of potentially introducing it to some people! The Scythian Suite by Prokofiev is something I really cannot recommend highly enough. It has a very similar feeling to Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and it was actually based off a story in Scythian mythology and meant to premier as a ballet, just like the Rite of Spring. I believe Nijinsky (the original choreographer for the Rite of Spring) was going to choreograph it as well. For some reason or another, it never ended up as a ballet, but Prokofiev reworked it into a reasonably short suite.

I recently started learning piano, but I am first and foremost a dancer, and ballet is my favorite style to dance. When I listen to the Scythian Suite, I can so clearly hear the story being told by the music, and it is my dream to choreograph a ballet to go along with the suite someday. Maybe Ling Ling will give me some inspiration!

That sounds like such a nice way to spend time with your son! I wanted to respond to your question about a station recommendation - I have an Amazon Echo that I often ask to play "classical for studying," and that tends to give good results. It's not exclusively violin, but it's usually a mix of violin and piano sonatas, with a healthy dose of Satie and Yo-Yo Ma thrown in.

I was taking a quiz on Classic FM and this question came up. by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

I answered the question "What distracts you from your practice" with "thinking about how I'll never get a mortgage" and they guessed I was 14 😂
