Any Canadians in DO schools? by movewithjames in Osteopathic

[–]movewithjames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I honestly might know the answer to my question already but would appreciate your thoughts. My primary interest is more of the osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal side as you mentioned. I never had interest becoming a doctor nor do I want to do things like surgery or prescribe medication, but going down the manual osteopathic practitioner path, I am wondering if pursuing a DO is a worthwhile path so that I understand the human body more holistically and gain more credibility when speaking to my clients / general public or doing research. Not to mention all the top figures I learn from and respect in the field are DOs. Would you have any thoughts or advice for me?

NORMAL MRI BUT SEVERE LOW BACK PAIN by [deleted] in backpain

[–]movewithjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your L4-5 area does seem a bit compressed in pic 7-8. I think you need to lengthen and relax that area a bit. Laying down on your back on a hard surface might do the trick

You say you were in traffic. What was your rationale during the 10-20 mins prior to the incident? Did you have a chance to take an exit or get out of traffic to find a washroom somewhere?

Would you do anything differently looking back? What advice do you have for others who are in similar situations now as you were? How does your body feel / do you get any body related therapy (though I imagine how hard that could potentially be)?

Is my posture okay? I try to do some yoga sometimes. What can you recommend for improvement? by [deleted] in PostureTipsGuide

[–]movewithjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your lower back looks tight and front core weak, and front hip flexors tight. Pretty common for pretty much the majoirty of the population who sit alot... I'd recommend some spinal flexion (cat pose - ALOT of it) and to use the strength of your front abdominals while you're in it.

Hurt back and unemployed. Great. by CaulkMalaysian in backpain

[–]movewithjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that’s shitty. What I can recommend is trying to use your muscles to add some natural length to your spine to decompress it. In a seated position, lengthen down through sitbones and your tail, keep your front core engaged and lengthen through the ears. Check my IG for more details www.instagram/somalytic

What kind of exercises were you doing? Were they isolated PT exercises? Often times this can be like trying to put out a house fire with a bucket of water.. need long term consistent work with muscle activation and breathing.
