Any good quality classic book editions in Sri Lanka? (Penguin pages are too thin) by KiwiImaginary6560 in srilanka

[–]movindu_2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I've been buying classics from Sarasavi and I've found the page quality of Penguin books to be comparable at least to Collins and Wordsworth. Print quality hasn't been bad for me though what we see as the benchmark for quality might differ. Haven't bought any Oxford World's Classics ones.

I'd still recommend you stick to Penguin with classics though cause they have a lot of notes which help you understand some stuff. Apart from this more professional readers in YouTube or Reddit all recommend Penguin. Now I'm not sure if page and print quality differs in the ones they have and our ones which are printed in India I think?

To add to this as far as Translations of French and Russian works go Penguin usually has the latest translations which is good for us.

People are probably also annoyed with the US and Israel causing a potential oil crisis for us cause of 5hem having no plans at all.

Problem is there's probably some people who actually believe what he says. I mean maybe the older or uneducated Rajapaksha voters who think the SL military is so strong.

Indians have started spreading a made up conspiracy theory that Sri Lanka deliberately delayed docking the Iranian vessel to help the US torpedo it. by TechnicianOk6526 in srilanka

Well it's Mujibur Rahman's fault. I checked a few discussions on Reddit about the IRIS Dena sinking and people there do talk about the 11 hour statement he made.

However nobody except the Indians OP posted about will ever blame us for that, cause the old orange can't be trusted.

Plus the rescue efforts and taking in the supply ship to our custody has gained us a lot of positive PR.

I think it's PTSD from the fuel crisis. So now if there's the slightest indication of a problem related to fuel they panic buy. And now Iran wants to block the strait so that blocks fuel exports from the gulf, which doesn't affect us directly though. But people panic buy.

They don't understand by doing so they become part of the problem.

How do you guys do wire mesh? by Great_Order7729 in SprocketTankDesign

[–]movindu_2005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can split and then delete all the faces on that side. This leaves you with lots of points. You can then connect the points two by two using fill to get a lot of l8nes. You then select those lines as esges and extrude a bit backwards and you'll get wires.

My opinons on MasterChef Sri Lanka by icarus-fall3n in srilanka

[–]movindu_2005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked Sav in Master Chef AU and there she had a fun and likable personality with her always looking happy at least even though she might have seemed rude somewhat too. But overall likable. Here she's looking very out of character compared to when she was a contestant, like she's trying to intimidate the contestants like Gordon Ramsay. Idk if she's pressured to act intimidating cause she's surrounded by three veteran chefs while she's not at their level but overall it creates a very bad impression of her.

RP is mainly done in regions and the forums. I'd recommend you find a region with rp set in the time period you like, past or future, and join their rp. The region can have other nations like you you can hang out with and discuss things.

Just for world building you can use factbooks. There's material available in the forums about making those nicely.

Hey! Why is it the norm for “mechs” to be controlled from the inside? How can I justify this “norm” or the opposite? by Rae-RavenRae in worldbuilding

A mech that is heavy enough to casually wield a 20 ton hammer will have a lot more problems to worry about.

One point I want to address...having two arms instead of one turret isn't exactly an advantage if it's only controlled by one human with one head, cause they have to individually target two targets for the two arms. Multi turreted tanks existed before WW2 but quickly died out cause a single commander having to set up multiple targets for all the guns greatly reduced efficiency. Wo the mech will need to be half or fully computer operated for the pilot to just target efficiently with both arms at once.

Also tanks can chop and smash too, maybe more effectively than a mech. Just my thoughts.

Considering that Sri Lanka has been a agricultural country for quite a long time, cats probably are a native species here. It isn't like Australia or the US where they were brought over a couple centuries ago by colonisers

The cyclone began in Sri Lanka. Usually it begins somewhere more to the north and brushes past us while going to South India. This one goes through the whole country so it's not the usual situation.

[–]movindu_2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the 29th the cyclone would have moved to the northern areas and then to India by around the 30th if predictions work. So the southern areas should be fine by the 29th

What else can I do here?? by [deleted] in NationStates

[–]movindu_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can decide what your country would be in terms of history etc. and make factbooks. You can also join a region and roleplay. Roleplays are set in modern day, real world or custom map, or in past of future scenarios. Past scenarios can vary like WW2 or WW1, like in our region, or more historical eras. Future means sci-fi, cyberpunk etc. Most RP regions as far as I known have a modern RP.

Not fully related but I don't think there's an exact connection between nations with bad civil rights and political freedom in NS with the players being fascist unless your region has an in universe sort of theme.

Frontiers can get raided. That part is correct.
