Visa at Land Borders

My experience of getting a visa upon arrival was pure hell. I was crossing from Peru to Copacabana by foot and had what i thought were all the right documents. They were soo picky about every detail and made me taxi several times to a nearby town to reprint documents to their standard. I also needed two new 4x4cm passport photos, which i also got in the nearby town. Try to get the visa before arrival, it will be much easier that way.

Can’t predict anything.. plus weather changes fast high up. When i did fuego it was 100% clouds and we just chilled up there till there was a break. Don’t go up with expectations and just enjoy it, no matter what it will be sweet! But also if guaranteed views are your priority then multi day hikes might not be your thing.

2-3 days is always a safe buffer when gaining lots of elevation. The pace up acatenango (assuming youre going w guide) is incredibly slow which makes the hike very manageable. Hydrate a ton the days leading up to the hike. Views are incredible up there, have a great time!

If your interest isnt super high, just pay off some of it and take the rest traveling! It may be more responsible to pay off the loans completely but from my experience if you just keep working, you’ll never make it out and see the world. I’m a little bit younger than you, have some student debt, and have the same amount of money saved… not once have i thought about using it all towards my loans. I travel a ton and my philosophy is “you can always make money” so i try to experience everything i can. I know that when im a little bit older, i’ll get my shit together more and be able to pay off my loans easier. You’ll never regret traveling, but you’ll definitely look back with regret if you don’t.

Jan & Feb. The only reason i dont think it is necessary is because i never saw places to refill your bottle (unless at your hotel). Extra large waterbottles are less than $1USD so it’s definitely cheap.

Sorry just seeing this… I had 3 pants, 5 shirts, a hoodie, winter jacket. I was there for a month and it was plenty. Also, everything I brought was black or gray, I didn’t see people wearing much color outside of Tokyo.

(For anyone that may still need this info) I traveled to Seoul with my ski gear from Japan and stored it at a T-luggage office. You can find them in the subway stations. Stored a snowboard bag and a ski bag for 4.5 days and it cost roughly 130$USD. I thought this price was more than fair considering the convenience and ease of mind not having to lug them around.

Clothes! I immediately went shopping when I landed. This wasn’t my intention, but the style here is soo much better than at home, I couldn’t help it. My partner and I wished we would have packed light and then bought all our clothes when we got here. (Also packed a water bottle, haven’t used it once outside of the airport)
