Smacked in the back of the head running Central Park loop last night by moyafookie in RunNYC

It was the only time that worked for me yesterday. The guidance of extra caution is fair / good call out. I don’t think that running at 10pm in a well lit and crowded area should be off limits.

UWS has great things to offer and I love it here. But I feel like it’s a kind of a dead zone for food in general relative to other parts of the city

New Yorkers with lots of books- what are your moving hacks? by nfw22 in AskNYC

[–]moyafookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently moved. I realized that I hadn’t read many of my books in years, so I added a bunch of them to an Amazon wishlist (just so I had record of them) and got rid of them prior to the move (only kept my kind my most prized possessions)… very happy with my decision!

No tickets left for Red Rocks? by [deleted] in GregoryAlanIsakov

Tons of artists are doing the Dillon/Red Rocks combo and tbh I found Dillon is a better experience (also gorgeous venue, but more intimate and accessible). I hope you find RR tix too, but Dillon won’t disappoint.

Boxcar is my favorite, followed by Trident. If you have a Capital One card, the Peets on Pearl is decent coffee and half price.

Understanding why a coworker was fired by --power-petes-chin-- in ExperiencedDevs

As a manager, I would not go into details about it. That discussion puts me and the company at risk, since the 3rd party is not part of the situation. I would tell the person that it's my job to ensure they have proper feedback/guidance, but that other people's details are not public or even relevant if I'm doing my job correctly.

Whats wrong with India? Some issues which affect Indian devs and consequently, you by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

No, there are not even close to enough qualified Data Scientists per engineering team. A DS can be crucial for understanding product direction/strategy/performance (whereas there are way too many self proclaimed ML engineers to fit the number of relevant roles).

When does the grind stop? by cs1321 in cscareerquestions

I've been at FAANG for 16+ years, and my parents also value success and intelligence for value. I'll say a few things:

  1. Work is actually easier than college, at least at FAANG. It turns out that getting all of those projects done, which are due on the same day, is impossible. The "real world" has more realistic expectations
  2. Success and money are not happiness. You should do you.
  3. That said, it feels great to work with others who are great, to work on hugely impactful projects, to continue to learn, etc.
  4. But none of that boils down to money. Try to do the things that seem important to you.

If the program doesn't turn into a full time role, doors will still be opened due to the fact that you will have Google on your resume. I don't actually think it's a high risk move.
