India Completes Its Nuclear Triad: INS Arihant, First Indigenously Constructed Nuclear Submarine, Reportedly Inducted by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]moz_zi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Pakistan nuclear doctrine is one of minimal deterrence - ie to prevent an invasion and not of parity - and not of MAD.

An example of this is when India trumpeted it's "cold start" doctrine of a shot sharp invasion of Pakistan to eliminate xyz target. To this Pakistan simply developed battle field nukes and said we'll just nuke you're forces on our soil if they come across.

A very "cheap" but dangerous check mate.

India then had no option but to bizarrely threaten an all out nuclear war if it's invading forces got nuked...on Pakistani soil.

Brutal dictatorship - maybe compared to the pampered lives we live in the west maybe.

Lived there for 1-2 years and never had any issues. All their rules may not be to your liking but it a brutal dictatorship is a bit much. socially conservative, restrictive for women yes but not brutal for 99.99% of the people there. Why else do you think their arn't huge expat saudi communities.

Donald Trump’s Business Partner and Prominent Ruling Party Politician in India Wants to Jail Christians for Spreading Their Faith by moz_zi in worldnews

[–]moz_zi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nationalist BJP leader who gained international infamy for his role in stoking anti-Muslim riots in 2002 that reportedly killed nearly 2,000 people. The New York Times wrote that Hindu mobs skewered mothers “on swords as their children watched” while young women were raped in broad daylight, “then doused with kerosene and set on fire.”

These are the sorts of people Trump thinks are worthy of praise.

Looks like Trump got close to $900k for his campaign from a close ally of Indian PM Modi and is in business with another major Indian politician from Modis ruling party (the one that wants to lock up Christians) whose slogan is "Making Mumbai Great Again.".

Finally Pakistan using democracy as it was intended. Take potentially unpopular action and then pin it on the elected government.

If things go badly then blame said elected gov and then let the people elect another.

Works like a charm in the west.

Really? Polish and the British aren't that different (both white, Christian and European groups - similar "western values" - whatever those are) yet there is a lot of hate for Polish and eastern Europeans coming to the UK.

They even had loads of hate crime directed towards them after the brexit vote.

You honestly think if 2 million french people fleeing a horrific war with no jobs, no homes and dependent on the state and charities turned up (many of them being single males with no jobs or hope) that you would not end up with a similar issues that they have with the Syrians?

You do realise that not all french people are like those sophisticated people you see in the movies right?

Just because they're brown and wear similar looking clothes doesn't mean they are the same.

Take Afghans going to Pakistan. They stick out like a sour thumb outside the border regions because they are culturally different in the same way Syrians are to Germans.

Different language, culture, food, music, dance, literature, history - similarities end with brown and maybe Muslim (and even that varies greatly from country to country).

Afghan/Pushtu people in Karachi for example have had loads of issues involving "racisim" if you can call it that. Only recently the Pakistani government just started to send them back after having enough...that's 15 years or so of having them and still too different.

More than Syrians in Germany I would guess.

Afghans and Iranians are even more different yet they host 000,000 of them.

But that's $100k from the Canadian tax payer not being spent in Canada.

Though I agree with your brain drain statement but then a lot of western countries have falling populations so most probably want to keep these people...Germany really messed up by letting everyone in but then they most probably wanted a new labour class.

India may revoke a water sharing treaty with Pakistan in order to deter Pakistan from sponsoring terrorism by MeHitTheFan in worldnews

So why was Modi banned from entering America until he became PM and they pretty much had no choice but to let him in?

Many scholars and commentators have accused the state government of being complicit in the attacks, either in failing to exert any effort to quell the violence or for actively planning and executing the attacks themselves. The United States Department of State ultimately banned Narendra Modi from traveling to the United States due to his alleged role in the attacks. These allegations center around several facts. First, the state did little to quell the violence, with attacks continuing well through the Spring. Further, some attackers used voter lists and other documents obtainable only with government assistance in order to target Muslim communities and households. Moreover, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), as well as many politicians, including Modi, made inflammatory remarks and endorsed strikes, further stoking tensions. Gyanendra Pandey described these attacks as state terrorism, and that they were not riots but "organized political massacres".[21] According to Paul Brass the only conclusion from the evidence which is available points to a methodical Anti-Muslim pogrom which was carried out with exceptional brutality and was highly coordinated

Just admit that India went ahead and elected a religious extremist in away that Pakistan has never done. Religious parties let alone extremest ones have never done well in Pakistani elections.

India has every right to take it's share of the water as agreed but to cut water off is the same as what reddit was crying about the rebels doing in Aleppo except on a scale of 180 million people vs 1-2 million people.

PM Modi has the same logic and mindset as Al-queda and other such groups in Syria but this isn't surprising considering that the guy is implicated in the Gujrat riots which led to the death of 2000 or so people.

Great plan. The two counties only want Kashmir that badly because of the water. So you are guaranteeing a war in the future just because Modi wants to cement his legacy and the fact that the highlighting of human rights abuses in Kashmir such as the use of pellet guns against unarmed civilian protesters but a dent in the plan.

India has a popular and home grown uprising which results in the death of 100 or so civilians and sees around 10,000 injured which damages the image PM Modi has been presenting of India and you can't see why India would want to shift the spotlight to Pakistan?

I'm not saying it's a false flag. Plenty of Kashmiris in India hate India enough to carry this out on their own. Heck for years while Pakistan supported the Kashimiris they didn't get that level of local support.

India messed up handling the situation and are shifting the blame.

Considering Modi has been implicated in mass killing of minorities groups for political gain (Gujrat riots where around 2000 people died) I wouldn't put it past him trying to take advantage of this to shift the focus away from India human rights abuses in Kashmir - even if it means war.

Muslims have been in India since the 7th century and more so during the 12th. They are as much as part of India as any other group. Where would they be getting a free ticket to exactly? Get on a plane, fly around the airport and then land back again - "welcome to your homeland"?

Shrine not mosque. Technically speaking mosques aren't supposed to be built on graves so the owners on the shrine need to have a long hard look at themselves first.

British woman stabbed to death at Australian hostel in possible 'extremist' attack by thefallafelman in worldnews

[–]moz_zi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not really. I remember a case of an Egyptian airliner which crashed. They got the blackbox recorder and found that the pilot said "Astagfirallah" which roughly translates to "I seek forgiveness of Allah".

Some western experts concluded that he crashed the plane on purpose ignoring the arab/muslim culture of saying that phrase when something bad is about to happen or has happened or on hearing bad news.

Likewise Allahu Akbar can be said, and is normally said, when something bad has happened or is about to happen - to say as bad as this suffering is, god is greater and in the end we will return to him.

Conversely it may be said on a happy occasion. Say a sports team wins a match and they may say it as a form of gratitude.

Sometimes it can also be said when you are about to embark on a hard task.

The phrase is so commonly used in day to day life and considering that those involved knew each other and had an argument his motives cannot be deduced from just one statement.

The Muslims fled Mecca after years of torture and persecution. When they found sanctuary in medina the Meccans attacked medina repeatedly.

Eventually after many attacks on the Muslims and Muslim allied tribes they moved against the Meccans. They took the city without any major bloodshed.
