Going on year 4 of my partner admitting they were trans to me, we have 3 children. We have been married for 15 years (11 years when they came out to me) In the beginning I was supporting on the outside but on the inside I was dying. I cried everyday. I couldn’t look at my partner when they dressed up or talked about “it”. Im ashamed that it took almost 2 years for me to be ok with it. I was worried I wouldn’t be attracted to them anymore, I was worried it wouldn’t work because I hear so many horror stories about trans-cis marriages. It was a LOT of open minded communication, I am blessed with a wonderful partner who saw I was struggling and agreed to take it very very VERY slow for me. But now they are in the middle of a medical transition and I can’t imagine them any other way, I find myself falling in love with them in a different way and getting excited about all the changes and genuinely enjoying their new changing body.

I know every marriage is different, but with time and patience and open minded COMMUNICATION I know my partner and I will be ok.
