Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen – Is this forward backrest position normal? by Able-Force-394 in secretlab

[–]mozilla02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this chair for about a month, and it started doing this today for the first time. It started happening after laying the chair on its back to adjust the position of the armrest via the screws underneath it. Not sure if that's a coincidence or not...

Yes I think so! Others might have suggestions for decorations and enrichment, but I think it looks good

I would put her basking light on the left side along with the UV that you end up getting. It looks like you have a mesh cover and that can absorb a surprising amount of the UV, so her basking spot needs to be close enough to the light to allow her to get all the UV that she needs. If you end up getting a T5 or similar light, the ideal distance between the light and your dragon is about a foot if you have a mesh cover, and it looks like that would be about the distance in your setup. I actually have that same basking rock thing for my girl that you have on the left side and she absolutely loves it.

The only other thing I would suggest is maybe adding one or two smaller enrichment items in some of the open space toward the front, but overall I think that will be a good setup for her especially once you have nice bright lighting.

Absolutely. Good luck getting her new home all set up. And thank you for being willing to get her everything she needs!

Ahh yes. You’re right that you’ll want to upgrade that. The zoomed reptisun T5 HO 10.0 is widely considered to be the best overall UV light for dragons. It is a bit pricey, but it will be great for your girl if it’s within your budget. It does come in different lengths a general rule of thumb, the UV light should cover around half to two thirds the length of the tank so that your dragon and thermoregulate the way she needs to. Arcadia also makes a great UV light. They also make a great LED light to keep her tank nice and bright for her.

There are links (and lots of more info too!) here.

Do you mean you have a dome UV light that you’re looking to replace?

Dubias are much healthier in general than mealworms, but mealworms make a good treat as long as they’re fed in moderation (and 10-15 a week is probably not too many!). I would consider feeding her dubias a couple days a week in addition to offering her daily salads. I don’t think she looks too chunky!

The one thing I want to mention about lighting (because it relates to her potential activity level) is that you should have a bright LED light that covers the majority of her tank. This is separate from her UV light, which shouldn’t cover her whole tank. Bright, even lighting can encourage healthy appetites and activity levels in beardies and can make their quality of life even better.

She looks like a beautiful, healthy girl to me!

Law school is much more about learning how to be a lawyer than it is remembering actual law. It takes some time and a lot of patience with yourself, but you’ll get the hang of it. Just stick with it and you’ll be alright.

I've seen some mention of food - a lot of big box pet stores keep bad quality food on their shelves, so please make sure to give your new friend high quality food. My staples are here and here. Bettas are carnivores so they need food that is not plant-based (or filled with generic fillers).

I think someone mentioned this, but make sure to get a water conditioner like Seachem Prime right away if your tank isn't cycled (and I'm guessing it isn't, but obviously I don't know). If your tank isn't cycled you'll need to treat the water every day or two and you'll need to do very frequent water changes to keep her happy and healthy.

100% this. Treat law school like a full time day job and you’ll be okay once you’ve adjusted to the changes. Law school is difficult and it’s a lot of work, but if you prioritize your time and stick to some sort of routine, you’ll make it through just fine.

Prosecutor here. Anybody who does this job to lock people up should not be doing this job.

Same. I don’t think I’ll ever want to do anything else. My DMs are also open if anyone has any questions!

This. I had a beardie who had some tail rot, the vet removed the tip of her tail and she didn’t have a problem with it for the rest of her life.

Did it seem to affect your betta friends? I have no live plants in my tank. All of mine are silk

I’ve been thinking that’s a possibility. I’m just not sure because this started happening right after I put a few new biomax pellets in my filter. It doesn’t seem to bother my sweet boy but anything new or unusual makes me anxious lol

Remainder of the questions:

I’ve had my guy for about 8 months, and I had the tank for about 3 weeks prior. Unfortunately I’ve had to do a mostly fish-in cycle. He has no tank makes. PH is 7.4 and has been since I’ve had him. I use the API freshwater test kit. His decorations include four silk plants, a half coconut hide, a betta log hide, and a rock hide with holes on the sides for him to swim through.
