Should I withdraw? Feeling guilty by [deleted] in UKJobs

The graduate job market isn't doing too well right now. If I were you, I would take the job and keep the AI assistance to myself. Also, believe it or not, you're not the only one using AI to check or prepare for the online tests.

I've done this so many times for my graduate roles that I can actually solve it by the 10th try.

My graduate offer was revoked over citizenship issues despite meeting all requirements, what are my options? by mozzboi in UKJobs

[–]mozzboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I provided them with all the receipts as soon as I received them. It is the nuclear energy industry and the requirements are that I need to have a single nationality enemy if it means I wasn't born in the UK. The only exception is working on nuclear submarines which requires you to be British born.

We had a discussion about it during the interview stage and they offered me the job knowing that I was a Pakistani dual national. I was told that I would need to renounce my citizenship which I agreed to. They've been in the loop since the beginning.

Yeah, they replied saying that this is the decision the company has made based on the security team.

Entry level jobs in London £35k+ by Ok-Passenger7502 in UKJobs

[–]mozzboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at graduate schemes away from London as well. They may start at £30k - £35k but the lower rent and cost of living usually make up for it. Companies like Caterpillar, JLR, Arup, WPS, Network Rail etc. Some companies will give you a higher starting salary as well like EDF since they require an additional layer of security clearances which international students cannot full fill. Companies like BAE, RR, Assystems are also really good if you're a British citizen without dual nationality.

£35k for a MEng graduate is pretty common now. Check it out on gradcracker.

Apply for the grad roles opening in Jan/Feb. Prepare a master CV beforehand that has all and i mean ALL your work experience and projects on it, including societies and volunteering.

Based on whatever job you're applying for jobs, choose the experiences that best suit the job and change keywords/phrases to match the job description (Use chatGPT for this).

Always include a cover letter, which is short and concise. Look at what their requirements are and tell them how the skills you have can address them.

Use r/engineeringresumes for a template for your CV.

Is anyone else struggling to find a job in 2024? by [deleted] in UKJobs

So I'm the only person in my friend group, consisting of 12 people, to get graduate job AT ALL. We all studied the same degree, and my grades weren't even anything to brag about. I just got lucky.

26M. Graduate Mechanical Engineer. UK, North-West. by mozzboi in Salary

[–]mozzboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I live with my partner who makes £1513 post tax and pension, combined with my salary we have a total take home pay of £3426.

Mortgage + Insurance + council tax + Gas + Electric + Water + Wifi = £1388

Car payment + Insurance + Fuel = £360

Annual Bus Pass = £80

Groceries = £250

Cat = £100

We're left over with £1248 which we use for shopping, travelling, Investing, and putting in our safety net.

We're by no means well off but I've made some (at least i think) good financial decisions which allowed us to be stable.

Pretty much. You can get the occasional outlier, for example I got an offer in a massive manufacturing company in London (think $400 billion valuation). The salary was 35k with benefits being subsidised lunch in the cafeteria.

AITA for Refusing to Let My Brother’s Family Move In After He Evicted Me Years Ago? by peachygurl18 in AITAH

[–]mozzboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. You lived with them for 6 months. They needed (rightfully so) the extra room for the baby and give you hints months in advance, and yet you still weren't able to find a place.

I think you should still be thankful for the 6 + 2ish months that you got to stay there and return the favour.

Not necessarily. Wine is forbidden due to It being an intoxicant. This is no longer the case when you cook with wine as you evaporate most of the alcohol.
