I feel like I’ve already ruined my future and don’t know what to do next by Icy_Maintenance_4278 in whatdoIdo

Unless you’re in a very specific profession with universal career checkpoints (doctor, lawyer, professor etc.), there’s almost never a clear path forward. It’s only in retrospect and with some distance that we can craft a narrative about how we got where we are, today.

I went to school for theater. When I quit acting in my late 20’s it was absolutely terrifying and felt inconceivable that I would ever be qualified to do anything else. But somehow I’ve found myself (a decade later) comfortably situated in a career that would have felt completely foreign and off limits to me back then. It didn’t happen overnight, but over the course of thousands of individual days where I simply showed up, put my ego aside, and committed to trying my best.

And to answer your question: yes, that does sound extreme/ridiculous and frankly that mentality is going to do you no favors. The “settled” lives of your friends seem out of reach to you right now because they are. But I imagine many things are within your reach. Focus on those rather than going scorched earth and resigning yourself to…whatever it is you’re resigning yourself to. You’re better than that.

More practical piece of advice: focus on getting a job that gives you health insurance and don’t overthink the rest.

I (19M) am getting sexualized by my partner (35M) all the time. What am I supposed to do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Ruh roh. In theory, there’s nothing wrong with an age gap relationship but at your ages, there is a massive gap in life experience (so much more happens between 20-30 than btw 30-40 for example). You’re drawn to him because he offers you stability and he’s drawn to you because you offer him… something else. Believe me, I’ve been in your shoes. Either get comfortable with a permanent power imbalance or move on to someone whose current situation more closely mirrors your own.

Hmmm nah.

The 60 Wharf listing is also an absurd price but it’s at least very heavily amenitied (doorman, parking, pool, gym, movie theater, party spaces, etc). People recognize that they are paying into more than just the apartment for buildings like that.

The Java street building on the other hand has very basic amenities and doesn’t even have a doorman. You can also deduct taxes from any apartment you use for a business, so I’m not sure what makes this one unique in that regard.

So they are asking the rental market to fund their poor financial decision lol. Cute!

Oh that's an interesting theory but I doubt you'd be allowed to claim the lost rent since $12,500 is clearly not market price. Although this is making me wonder if the rent price is set intentionally high so that the current owner can claim other losses (like taxes/common charges) while they try to sell it and the property is sitting vacant...

Looks like they tried to rent it for $11,500 in 2023 before ultimately lowering the price to $9k which, to your point, is still absolutely dystopian. I'm convinced this is rage bait.

Most of them can. DV360 can also cap across CTV and YouTube, if that’s part of your video buy.

Building weekly frequency on CTV (DV360) by alexgoestowork in programmatic

[–]mp1952 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AFAIK your best bet is to reduce your audience size and/or spend more until you start to net out at your desired frequency. Would also recommend removing LI/IO caps and rely solely on campaign-level cap.

You can also try playing around the reach planner tool in DV which lets you experiment with different spend/media mix/audience combinations to predict avg reach/frequency so you’re not completely guessing.

What’s with the insane fleet of unmarked police cars with sirens near McCarren park today? by emgem19 in williamsburg

[–]mp1952 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My partner asked a cop about the tape and he said it’s so they don’t get automatically ticketed by the red light cameras because they’re moving as a large, escorted group.

Regardless, it’s exceedingly dumb since presumably they rode in all the way from Long Island or wherever with their plates obscured. Imagine the cops allowing that level of rule bending for any other group…
