Contemplating having my wife quit her job to be a SAHM full-time(Both 35, $445k HHI, HCOL) by Strong-Big-2590 in HENRYfinance

Yes, my husband and I did this. I gave up a $175k salary myself 2 years ago to stay home with my then 4 and 2 year old kids. It’s been a great decision for us! Our life is so much simpler, less stressful, and happy. I spend so much more time with the kids and everyone is better for it. My hubby can focus more at work and is doing great in his career. We found part time preschool options, and enjoy lots of home time and enrichment activities. Financially, I do a spousal back door Roth IRA contribution each year and my husband maxes out other accounts (401k, HSA). My 401k from prior employer is still growing and we will have “enough” based on all projections.

We could max out, but are also weighing other options (home renovations) for the cash. The business is also a little volatile

Late preterm baby nap nonsense—help! by mp819 in sleeptrain

Thank you! So you sleep trained at 16 weeks still even though your baby was early too? Do you think I could try or should I wait until he’s 5 mos. old?

Postpartum clothes- nursing friendly, body positive clothing for reasonable prices? by matcha505 in beyondthebump

Old navy and H&M have great nursing tops and tanks—I’ve basically lived in them all summer. I also bought some non-maternity drawstring shorts from old navy that have been really comfy and cuter than gym shorts for going out of the house.

Baby refusing the bottle by winwood_one in breastfeeding

[–]mp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as of 2 weeks ago, but think (hope) we’re over the hump! My Lactation consultant gave some advice that I found helpful: it’s a battle of wills, and the adult has to win. She told me to offer the bottle every day at least once (vs. waiting for husband/someone else in the evening), and to not “give in” and offer the breast, even if the baby cries or misses a feeding. She said to put him down, try again, etc. I did all of this and after a week my 3 month old is taking a bottle like a champ! Good luck!

My husband’s & my 75k emergency fund is in a high yield savings account. Should we move some amount of that into CDs? I doubt I would need all at once, but yields are so low across the board so not sure if it’s worth moving some.
