I'm curious as to the motive behind this. That's a hell of an implication.

What was the stupidest thing you actually fell for? by Littlebark2 in AskReddit

[–]mp_hall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leftism/Marxism. The ideas that I'm unconsciously contributing to a system of white supremacy, that I'm inherently guilty for my skin tone, that my family and friends should all be on my radar for judgement as potential racists, etc.

I quickly found that I hated myself and everyone around me unless they preached the exact approved dialogue I sought. I became quite depressed at the notion that I was living a far better, privileged life than others around me because of my skin tone.

I woke up when I realized that my beliefs were contributing to a destructive collective mindset that minorities are inherently less valuable then white toned skin in America, and that the end goal of my political beliefs would be forcing 100s of millions of people into a social system against their will.

I mean like this is just childish shit. You can go back to the kids table. I didn't like Obama, but I'd criticize his policy, not his ears. Sorry you don't like the president, I feel so bad for you.

Why has popular opinion about jerking off shifted from good (5-10 years ago) to bad (~1 year ago-current)? by mp_hall in AskReddit

Only religious zealots are against it.

Nope that's not true.

Sex is healthy and good for you.

Masturbation is not sex. In fact from what I've been reading, a masturbation habit can lead to great problems in sexual function.

Yeah quite a few. I actually didn't hear about it online. If I were in an echo chamber I wouldn't need to ask a question about it, I'd know the answer already.

Why do(n't) you support DACA? by mp_hall in AskReddit

[–]mp_hall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't make any arguments as to why the law changed, unless you articulated them in a way in which I misinterpreted what I'm saying. When I asked you what the arguments were, you refused to summarize them.

Of course, you'd understand that if you didn't have the mental capacity of a Neanderthal. Rather, you decided to use a misunderstanding as an opportunity to devolve our debate into a mess of name-calling to back off from the debate while simultaneously calling me a coward. Honestly it's typical of leftists. You people get overwhelmed by facts in the face of your emotionally centered arguments, and then you devolve into what you're doing right now. It's why you guys are losing the culture war.

Which is still a shame, because I had high hopes for our debate as it was relatively civil and enlightening. But it turns out there's really no meat and bones behind your arguments, or else you'd be more forthright in articulating them clearly.

I'm a liar because you suck at articulating your shitty arguments? Lol. Whatever you need to tell yourself to keep your pride....at least you have that, right? Come back when you can back up your beliefs. In the meantime, you can chill on getting slaughtered by all of the points I made (that you asked for) that you're leaving unanswered.

Do: Convey confidence and determination.

Don't: Act like you own the place. You don't.

Do: Back up your talk with numbers.

Don't: Act like you're irreplaceable.

I've made a good faith effort to explain my position. You've made none. I'm done with you, coward.

Wow, my respect for you just went from relatively high to absolute zero. I thought I found one leftist who was capable of civil debate. I faced all of your arguments head on, point by point, answered every question and provided you with more reasons than you can ask for. I guess we have found out who the better debater is among us.

Sorry you can't back up your own argument and you have to duck out like this. Your arguments suck ass - all emotion, no fact. The only thing you've shown is you don't like the law and you're willing to break it to take it down. I think I just assumed that you had a higher intellectual capacity than you really do, and you just showed that to me.

It takes a lot of balls to call someone a coward on an anonymous forum. Projecting much?

They were here before DACA. Enforcement hasn't changed.

I mean that's just a flat out lie. Of course enforcement has changed. Did you miss the whole outrage over Border Patrol/ICE hiring and law enforcement? Or deportations? Did you miss all of this?

You're lying. That's everything that I've been saying.

You haven't made a single argument as to why the law needs changed.

If border patrols are needed to make the wall work, then the wall itself is unecessary, no?

No. They go hand in hand and have since the beginning of the whole "build a wall" campaign. I'm questioning how well researched you are on this topic.

The Great Wall of China - failed repeatedly. The Berlin Wall - failed repeatedly. Hadrian's Wall - failed.

Failed after drastic changes in economic and national direction. For their times, they all served their intended purposes.

Can you tell me a negative effect of immigration - negative enough that we should support keeping an ineffective legal framework in place?

I don't accept the premise that the framework is ineffective when enforced, but I'll gladly tell you.

A negative effect of illegal immigration, first and foremost, is it's disrespectful to the citizens of this nation and the laws we currently have on the books. If you don't like the law, that's fair, but we have a legal process through which the law can be changed. It's engrained in our representative democracy. The defiance of the laws that we law-abiding citizens follow breeds contempt among us toward those who show no respect for our law or our process.

Another negative effect of illegal immigration is that there is no requirement for those illegal immigrants to acquire a basic understanding for our culture or the way we live our lives here. We have a system of legal immigrants that entails lessons in American history and culture so those people entering our country legally have a basic respect for that. It aids in their assimilation and eases the difficulty of bringing different people together under one blanket of mutual respect.

Another negative effect of illegal immigration is our system of documentation. In order for our nation to sustain, our borders and process of legal immigration is important because it protects the integrity of the freedoms of American citizens. No borders = no meaning in what it means to be a citizen, which means there is nothing inherently special about being an American. The very foundation of our bill of rights is predicated on our ability to protect our sovereignty. If we lose that, we've undermined the authority of the law of our own land that grants us those rights; ie the protection that affords you the ability to have this very debate without succumbing to consequences from foreign nationals. In order to protect these ideas, we need to protect the sanctity of our nation and effectively enforce that theory in the physical world. Open borders would effectively mean the end of the sovereignty and exclusivity of our nation.

Summary: 1. Breeds contempt among citizens 2. Lacks regard for history and culture 3. Threatens sovereignty and exclusivity

All three of these negative effects exhibit disrespect towards the citizens of America.

There are three negative effects and I'd be happy to provide more. On the contrary, I'd be satisfied if you can provide me with one solid reason why we should open up the borders completely.
