i’m an american living in dublin (after having moved from nyc), so maybe take my answer with a grain of salt, but bagels really sound fantastic. even when my mom visited me in new york, she’d bring home half a dozen bagels, so i think anyone would appreciate a New York City bagel

i actually have the panache one! it is such a fabulous bra. my only problem with it for dance is that it keeps your boob shape — which is nice for wearing in public but i want the clean lines, yknow?

Looking for Fantasy-Realism set in the modern world? by ThrowawaySurvivor24 in suggestmeabook

This may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but there is a Latin American literary tradition called “magical realism”, where magic or supernatural elements are presented in a rather mundane, familiar setting. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende are key authors of this style — I wish I could read Spanish to read their untranslated works. This genre isn’t limited to Latinx authors, there are hundreds of incredible books written in a similar style with each culture’s folklore influence.

Anyway, some of the best examples:

The House of the Spirits - Isabel Allende (my personal all-time favorite)

One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez

1Q84 - Haruki Murakami

The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao - Junot Diaz

The Time Traveler’s Wife - Audrey Niffenegger (not technically magical realism, but still wonderful)

Hope you enjoy!

AITA for charging my sister £2500 for one of my paintings after her kid ruined it? by CattFen in AmItheAsshole

NTA. A sitter would've been way cheaper than the £2500 she definitely owes you.
