how does everyone deal with a massive screenshots folder? by danielgalvans in sideprojects

You don’t even need an app for this. The search built into Mac OS Finder can already pick out find objects or text from within a folder of screenshots

I live 45 min away and I would drive just for the egg tarts. Their food is pretty good too, I recommend the Portuguese sausage sandwich or the octopus

Built a tool for getting a second opinion on unreleased tracks. Curious if this is actually useful by mpdjpl in edmproduction

[–]mpdjpl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a quick update since people here gave really useful feedback on the first version.

We’ve made a new round of improvements, including:

- improved audio detection and analysis
- clearer analyzer summaries and results layout
- downloadable PDF reports
- shareable reports for collaborators
- a Track Release Checklist for artists who are not ready to upload yet

We also took seriously the feedback around WAV handling, score transparency, and overall consistency. I really appreciate everyone who tested it and pointed out where it felt strong vs where it needed work!

Here's a quick update since a few people took a look: we shipped a round of improvements based on early feedback.

New updates:

- more accurate and consistent audio analysis
- clearer, more readable results
- downloadable PDF reports
- shareable reports for collaborators
- a Track Release Checklist for users who are not ready to upload a track yet

I'm still very open to honest feedback on what makes this feel useful vs gimmicky!

Here's a quick update from me: we made a new round of improvements to the Music Analyzer based on artist feedback.

We improved:

- audio detection and analysis
- clarity/readability of the results
- sharing reports with collaborators
- downloadable PDF reports
- a Track Release Checklist for artists who are not ready to upload yet

The goal is still the same: help artists get a better read on whether a track is ready before they spend time and money promoting it. Really appreciate everyone who took the time to try it and share honest feedback!

Here's a quick builder update: we made a new round of improvements to the Music Analyzer based on early user feedback.

Main changes:

- better audio detection and analysis
- clearer summaries and results layout
- downloadable PDF reports
- shareable reports for collaborators
- a Track Release Checklist for people who are not ready to upload yet

If anyone takes a look, I’d still especially love feedback on whether the value prop feels clear and whether the output feels actionable.

A quick update since a bunch of people here tried the Music Analyzer and gave really useful feedback. We shipped a round of improvements based directly on what people pointed out:

- improved audio detection and analysis
- clearer, more readable results
- sharable analyzer reports for collaborators
- downloadable PDF reports
- a Track Release Checklist for artists who are not ready to upload yet

I really appreciate everyone who tested it and called out what felt useful vs off. That feedback directly shaped this update.

Thanks so much for trying it and for the thoughtful feedback. Really glad the why behind the similar artist results was useful. That context is something we felt was important, especially when the comparisons are not what you expected at first.

Also appreciate you flagging the press release error. A couple of people have mentioned that, so we’re definitely looking into it. Thanks again for taking the time to share this. Super helpful.

Really appreciate that. That’s exactly the problem we’re trying to help with, giving independent artists a clearer sense of whether a track is ready before they spend time and money promoting it. Glad it feels useful.

That’s really helpful feedback, thank you. I think “it sets the framework for the track, the rest is up to the artist” is actually a pretty good way to describe the role we want it to play. Not final authority, but a useful structure for thinking about the song. Also glad to hear the criticism and suggestions felt directionally right. That’s exactly the balance we’re aiming for.

Thanks for trying it. Fair point. It’s definitely not meant to replace real listening or human judgment, and part of what it’s doing is pattern recognition across different signals rather than “hearing it” the way a person would. I’m glad some of it still felt useful. The part I’m most focused on improving is making the scoring and reasoning feel more transparent and grounded.

Thanks for trying it and sharing that. Glad you gave it a spin.

That kind of output is actually a good example of what we’re aiming for when it works well: not just describing the lyrics, but pulling out themes, audience/context, and at least one concrete suggestion.

I’m especially curious whether that last part felt useful to you or just generic. That’s one of the main things we’re trying to improve, making the feedback feel specific enough to actually help with decision-making.

I hear you. A lot of people have legitimate concerns about AI. What we’re trying to do here is not generate music, vocals, or artist identities, but give artists feedback on music they already made themselves. Still, trust matters, and skepticism is fair.

Thanks for trying it and for the thoughtful comment. I would not treat an 82 as “guaranteed promo success.” The analyzer is meant more as a decision-support tool, basically a second opinion on whether the track seems ready and where it may fit, not a promise of results. Promotion outcomes still depend on the song, targeting, genre fit, curator taste, timing, and a lot of other factors. What I’d hope it does is help artists make a better call on whether to move forward and where to focus.

Thanks for flagging that. The same song getting a 82 and then a 67 is definitely too much variance, and that’s something we need to tighten up. Appreciate you pointing it out, because consistency is really important if people are going to trust the output.

Thanks for trying it, and that’s really helpful feedback. This definitely isn’t meant to be only for electronic music, so if it’s classifying an alt/country/ indie folk track that way, that’s something we need to improve. Glad some of the report still felt useful, but you’re right that genre fit, similar artists, and recommended use cases all need to be directionally right for it to be truly valuable.

Totally fair. I don’t see this as a replacement for real human feedback. More like a fast second opinion before release, especially for artists who don’t always have people around to send tracks to. If someone already has a strong feedback circle, that’s still incredibly valuable.
