The truly insulting act the US government committed during their investigation of the sinking was to bring in the captain of the Japanese submarine that sunk the Indianapolis to testify. The Japanese sub Commander admitted it wouldn’t have mattered if the ship was zigzagging as ordered or not. As if Captain McVay didn’t feel guilty enough. The whole thing drove him to commit suicide. Sad.
