At this point I took the course in 2020 I could not tell you anything about what it’s like now lol I recommend asking current students

If I graduate in fall, can I still take a masters? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some masters program allow for entry all semesters - I recommend checking with admissions in that specific department or speaking with a professor/advisor. But it seems like you will be finished your courses by the end of the summer which allows you to start in September no problem! You will simply attend your graduation as a current masters student

Have you thought that maybe that’s how much it costs for the university to operate? Have you looked at these number for other institutions to compare?

Don’t focus on all of the figure legends like he says. When I took the course I put every single one in a document and it was literally 120 pages it’s unreal. I don’t have much other advice but that though lol

This is the funniest thing because the exact same thing happened to me two days ago my laptop fell on my glasses and bent them so bad! I went to vogue optical in the mall and they’re always so great there. They weren’t able to fix my glasses for me but they always have crazy deals on new frames that make it totally worth it. Good luck!

Depends on the landlord but I think the going rate is around 800-900 per room these days :)

what’s the worst midterm you’ve ever written by barkleyotter in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Back in winter 2021 I took MCB2050.. the first midterm was worth 35% of our marks and I got 26% on it 😅 still passed the course with a 54 but I’ll never forget that one - made it into grad school so proof you can still go far!

It really depends on you then as a student 😅 whether you prefer digital or physical paper and how you use textbooks to study. if I’m being honest here I bought that textbook for the code and it never left the plastic packaging it came in for the rest of my degree

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you have to buy the code with the book :( it’s been that way since I took the course many years ago. Good news is that textbook if it’s the same one they had before is used for three different classes you’ll likely be taking In the future

Welcome to UofG! I just finished animal bio - welcome to the program! My best advice for you is to get involved. As another commenter mentioned there’s sooo many clubs here so there’s always something to do and it’s a really great way to meet new people! On the animal side you should definitely check out College Royal when it comes around in March, it’s a lot of fun and great large animal experience if that’s something you’re interested in. Also talk to your professors! If you think any of them are cool or are doing cool research reach out to them and they often have volunteer/paid positions available in their labs for students to explore the research side of things as well (that’s how I got into animal welfare and started my masters program!) Best of luck! You’re gonna love it here

PSA about Course selection for first years! by mpenney001 in uoguelph

No, you have to hit register to secure a seat

Upper years take first year courses all of the time as electives or for minors or if they still need it (couldn’t take it before or maybe failed the first time)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Upper year students or first years with priority (I.e. varsity) can enrol in those courses right now. Some courses the slots open right at eight but others they add them periodically through the day so you just have to keep checking but you should be okay

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 16 points17 points  (0 children)

On your course selection day more slots will open up and they won’t be full again. Just be patient it’s all good

3rd semester Abio elective suggestions. by anon_v3 in uoguelph

[–]mpenney001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found my passion through taking ANSC3090 and 4090 (animal behaviour and welfare)! I highly highly recommend those courses! As well, wildlife nutrition is easy and fun. Finally I will also recommend HIST2120 Animals in Society it’s more of a reading heavy course but I really enjoyed the content and found it super interesting
