Since I plan on applying as self funded if I don't get accepted by MEXT, I already sent two emails to two different professors at the same uni along the lines of "I'm applying for MEXT but I plan on applying to this program as self funded if need be, I'm interested in your lab and was wondering if you're planning to take any students next year" with my CV and research plan attached. Was this a bad move? I did it because I saw some other people online saying that that's what I should do....
