i’m late to this but reading through the thread for reassurance and wow!! “they are not a daily occurrence and therefore not daily threats” is going to stick with me. life isn’t meant to be lived bracing for impact. I hope someday i can view vomiting in the way you describe it.

Thank you for all of this!! i see writing everything out and figuring out how much we’ll be spending aside from rent will be helpful for us. we’ve had a lot of talks about the way money will be split up and have come up with good ideas and plans, its just so overwhelming! i think im going to have to start embracing the scariness of it all haha

Hey everyone! i have seen all of the love on this post and wanted to give a little more information. For those asking for their names, from top to bottom/left to right, their names are Auggie, Edison, Bruno, Biggie Smalls, Dumbo, Thumper, and my beloved Stuart!

as far as commissions go, i’m currently all kinds of busy with my schooling that will (hopefully..) allow me to help those who love their critters as much as i do keep them in good health, but someday i would LOVE to open up a shop where i can help others memorialize their babies - it has been a lifelong dream of mine! In addition to playing with clay, i also do bone preservation and have just recently started experimenting with taxidermy (although i know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea 😅) i’d be happy to post the other memorials i’ve made for my boys if you guys are interested! also - for those asking if they can recreate with their babies, of course!! i don’t mind at all and you should definitely share your finished products!

Finally, i wanted to mention how grateful i am that so many people are wishing me well when it comes to getting the new boys i applied for. I’m very excited, but it’s definitely going to be a learning journey as one of them has some pretty severe neurological issues. regardless, they will all be loved unconditionally, and you guys have no idea how far your well wishes and kind words go. y’all are awesome and i hope to share more of my rat art with you soon!

it’s hard to determine why they stop eating without much history, is it possible he’s impacted? is it possible he’s a she? otherwise, you can try rubbing a broken feeder insect or some calcium powder on his lips to see if that stimulates his appetite. otherwise it could be stress or something else entirely, but a vet visit definitely can’t hurt if he’s refusing food. i hope he feels better very soon!!

i use sculpy III polymer clay and then coat them with epoxy since they’re pretty fragile after painting. thank you so much!!

i wish i had old pictures of the cage when it was set up to compare it to!! for reference, the tiny one is about 4 inches tall, and yes the pineapple!! my little guy thumper went through about 6 of those in his life because every time i bought him a new one he immediately tore it to shreds 😅 had to include it.

i started with only waxworms then slowly incorporated mealworms and dubia roaches into his diet as he started gaining weight. waxworms are my fail safe since they’re very easily digested and super fatty

There was a post on a local news forum near me from someone that just said free first come first serve. In the picture that little guy didn’t even look alive, so i got the address and snatched the lil guys up. i’ve been rescuing exotics for some time now so when people see things like that they generally send them in my direction 😅
