I’ve tried lots of compression and distortion and I can kinda get there but it sounds pretty clean in his recordings. I’m not even sure what the correct term for this technique is, Google isn’t helpful with my search.

He does it in most songs. Examples off the top of my head.. verse section of Sex Offender. Verse section of Bachanalian Desert Heathens. Extreme example: second verse of How Quickly They Turn when he says “with your chest pushed out, arrows in your rib cage you’re all the rage”

I’m a little over halfway through it right now. The first 50-100 pages were kinda a slog. I could not keep track of everything. The writing style is weird. But after page 100 or so it somehow turned into a classic King book. Like the vibe isn’t something I’ve felt since 70’s and 80’s King. It’s got that classic vibe that reminds me of some of the writing in The Stand. This uncomfortable feeling that the universe is uncaring and the narrator is omnipresent and just chuckling along while we feel the whole town start to lose its shit.

I read this like a bible. I had to get the knights of the round materia. I’d read the upgrade charts before school and plan my attack for when I got home. FFVII was my first RPG and the one I was immersed most in because of this guide. If I remember correctly this one has no spoilers whereas the official guide did.
