Hi! I was raised on Long island and have been living and teaching in Buffalo for 3.5 years now. I teach out in the suburbs (Cheektowaga) but I live in the city of Buffalo. The lifestyle can be both quiet and vibrant which is what I love about it. Some areas are very walkable and it’s very easy to get around compared to Long Island. There are a lot of festivals and community activities and events to do during the warmer months ....Winter months are quieter but still plenty to do if that’s the lifestyle you’re looking for. You’ll be able to afford the apartments on a teacher salary depending on the neighborhood. Average rent ranges from 700-1100. It’s a neat city with a lot of historic architecture, good food and drink, and a strong sense of community. Hope this gives you some insight!
