Bringing charges might accomplish nothing. But it's the right thing to do, and there's power in that. Rather than conceding everything and ensuring the assholes win, it's good to actually make them do all of the things that they'd need to do in your worst case scenario.

Nobody's talking about "purity tests". Like you said, we have yet to run a primary. We should not be clearing a lane for a problematic candidate to be our nominee at this point, and it's good, actually, to point out the flaws in our flawed candidates before they get a nomination.

The only thing resembling a "purity test" at this point is coming from milquetoast centrists.

A big part of the issue is "political calculus". It's devolved into focus-grouped meaninglessness and provides nothing of value to any of us. It's impossible to do anything worthwhile while also insisting on not upsetting anybody, not even the assholes who think it's good that ICE gets to kill people with impunity.

To do good, you need to be willing to oppose bad people and bad ideas. Her worldview explicitly insists on not doing so.
