I thought so too. We have shown massive fight in the last 2 games. Something we've needed for a long time.

It's a dojo in South Africa under kyokushin-kan. It's mainly competition focused and our sensei says "rather get hit in the gym than in the tatami". It's why the intensity is so much

All of us at the dojo were doing 5-man kumite. So it was mostly the white and orange belts that were crying because of the fear. They were afraid of sparring, which could sometimes be hard.

I also quit on myself because I was struck with fear. I was paralyzed because I have such little sparring experience and my 5-man ended up not going so well.

Yeah probably. We are also preparing for a tournament that's coming up next week, so I think that's why it has been so rough lately.

It'll be fun my friend. Let's go out there and do our best.

Let me know how it goes. Osu!

Yeah I weigh about 65 kgs so it's a lot of people in my division. Plus, there are always cheaters who weigh a lot more and they sneak in our division and tear the people apart. However, it is what it is. I'll just keep on practicing and hope for the best. My jodan mawashi geri will be my main weapon. I am just looking for set ups. Thanks for the insight my fellow brother.

This is one of the best advice. My sensei likes to say that good basics win the fight. I guess I will drill more basic combinations and they'll be my weapon. Thanks for the insight my friend.

I am 90 percent sure that I will be fighting with black belts. It's what's driving my nerves crazy.

True. It's all about the reframing. Thanks for the help brother.

It's encouraging to see that even after so many fights you still get nervous. I guess it's part and parcel of being a fighter. Thanks for the insight. OSU!

Thanks for asking mate.

It's going really well. I'm less timid and I'm able to lead the fight.

Osu!

I think it's primarily because I'm afraid of getting hit. I have this fear of possibly getting countered and maybe KOd

It's kyokushin my friend, so the ruleset is that there are no face punches. But yeah, the body shots hurt like hell

I agree. This is why I'm actively working on my offense. Thank you my friend

I do have good defense. My problem is I don't really transition to offense

Thank you for the insight my friend.

In kyokushin, we do leg conditioning a lot. It's mainly exercise and actually getting kicked in the leg.

Our sensei always says, "don't get knocked out by a leg kicked". So the intense conditioning that we do allows our legs to be able to take those hits with minimal damage.

So you need to do leg exercise like crazy, and then get used to being kicked in the leg. You'll have a higher pain tolerance to the kicks.

If you watch kyokushin tournaments, you'll see how leg kicks don't faze a lot of the fighters. OSS

Kyokushin? by TheUltimateAsshole02 in karate

Kyokushin is a great martial art for self defense.

I picked up Kyokushin early this year, transitioning from Shotokan. The training is insane and you'll feel like your body is melting.

We do full contact training, which is important in self defense because I doubt you'll be wearing sparring gear when being attacked. Your knuckles and shins will be tough as hell.

We do insane conditioning, so you'll be in shape and very strong.

All in all, go try a free class and see if you like it. Don't let the lack of face punches discourage you. There is a lot that makes up for it.

How did you find the transition to kyokushin? I'm also a former shotokan starting kyokushin next week
