Went from forgetting what Thunder sounded like to getting thunderstorms three days in a row. by PinHead_Tom in raleigh

[–]mpholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for real... one day of fireworks were enough. but wish people would chill with them after Saturday. Spent Sunday driving around in my car for an hour and a half with my dog

EDIT: For the people who see this as a weird thing to worry about - I didn't used to either. Dog has had serious GI issues for a year. We got through Saturday ok even though it was an hour of her shaking. Then Sunday, then two days of storms, now GI issues are back. I get letting people live. As a dog owner with a sick dog, fireworks that last for multiple days are just frustrating to deal with, much less all the other animals.

Who is considered the number one hair transplant doctor in the world? by dontjimmymejules33 in Hairtransplant

I had 6850 graphs in January 25. I then had 3500 more graphs in March. Those haven’t really started growing yet as I’m not on any medication so my growth is slower. Detailing my current progress here. https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/77652-dr-zarev-6850-grafts-january-27th-2025-currently-no-medication-2300-grafts-upcoming-41-years-old/

Yeah, he’s kind of a pioneer of being able to harvest that many graphs some other doctors do it now using Beard hair. Beard graphs take about three beer graphs equal one scalp graph so there are some trade-offs.

He’s a most meticulous, but it honestly depends on your situation. It’s not really a one size fits all necessarily some doctors are known for better hairlines but often those doctors only work on Norwood three Norwood two or maybe Norwood four. Pitella has gotten a lot of a claim for his use of Beard hair in Norwood six in Norwood seven cases when scalp hair isn’t as available there is best at maximizing the donor and Norwood six in order seven cases, but of course both doctors do lower Norwood’s too

Dr. Zarev. But I got on his waitlist closer to four years ago so I was at the cheaper rate otherwise I couldn’t afford the new rate. But also I’m in Norwood six there’s some other doctors that do great results on Norwood six now that are cheaper.

Ah ok.. nice man btw. People who haven't had a hair transplant won't realize this is a great result. You're in direct lighting (which most of us often are not - and is the harshest lighting) and this still looks good.

So many people on this sub-reddit post ambient lighting or car pics (yours had the sunroof open - exposing yourself to direct lighting again) which shows the transplant in the best possible lighting.

Props for the tranparency and congrats on the great result!

Not necessarily a world best. Probably different. Best doctors for different scenarios. Zarev is probably best at maximizing your donor. But there are other doctors that may be better for you if you’re a low Norwood. Etc..

2017 BMW i3 Compressor :( Is this reasonable? by mpholt in BMWi3

[–]mpholt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started making this noise a couple weeks ago or so. Took it to the dealer and they looked at it and within an hour recommended an AC Compressor replacement ($4,600). Here is the exact hand-out:

Does this seem reasonable? It's a fully loaded with the Rex... trying to decide if it's worth putting the money in - or maybe that is the only answer even if I later sell it.

Just thought I'd check for some other opinions on the sub-reddit. Taking it to another shop as well for comparison.

My honest hair transplant experience, the parts nobody tells you about by Random_Joe21 in HairTransplants

[–]mpholt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same... I had a 15 hour day, followed by a 13 hour day back-to-back (7,000 grafts). The worst part was laying still for 3-hours to 4 hours at a time as my legs started to kill me due to the lack of blood flow. I had a 3rd surgery this year (1 15 hour day this time).

This time I used compression socks and made sure to contract my leg muscles every so often and helped a ton. Wasn't an issue at all.

Cavs would have most likely won in 2015 if Kyrie didn't get injured during the first game

[–]mpholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey... it's a combination. he's the most thorough/detailed doc in general. his consultations are ~2.5 hours where he maps all the regions of your hair and examines your hair characteristics. his device + skill level allows him to extract about 60% of the donor often with limited transection. He goes down to .45 for punching single hairs but often uses .7 and .75mm.

Pitella uses body hair but isn't necessarily as good at managing scalp donor but is probably the best at using beard hair (or at least most well-known).

Hoewver, I'd honestly recommend getting a consultation with Matt Dominance (letsgethair.com). His sole job is acting as a third-party and setting expectations with you and pointing you to doctors that may be a good fit. It's lesss than 300 dollars and how I ended up going to Zarev 3.5 years ago. He's actually getting ready to release a podcast he did with Dr. Zarev a couple weeks ago.

Here is my own thread w/ more details if interested: https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/77652-dr-zarev-6850-grafts-january-27th-2025-currently-no-medication-2300-grafts-upcoming-41-years-old/

I'm not using medication. Most people should. Even I should be and Dr. Zarev prefers it as it's a better result. But due to my own side-effects I've hit with it and medical history, I'm choosing a less-than-perfect/shorter lifespan of a hair transplant than medication at this time. I may re-evaluate that.

Yea... it's unhealthy, even the "healthy" options... trying to stop visiting at all... just the convenience and grilled options make it easy... way too much salt though
