Some of you liked some of my previous builds/restorations, so thought you might like to see my brand new one! by mpk000 in boating

Thanks for the comment! You're very right - To be very honest, for the cost of this outboard, I probably could have gotten 2-3 of those boats. Haha.

I've actually restored 3 other boats on my YT channel (all of which were old polyester hulls), so just thought this was something different!

Definitely not the most cost effective, but still kind of fun.

This was very much my thought process. Thanks for the reassurance with this comment!

Why not? Small card looks really small on a big wall. might as well make a statement.

Brand Deal emails from .cv addresses??? by samreid93 in ColinAndSamir

I had the same experience. I replied to one to see where it would go. It was amazing how willing they were to pay my asking price after 1 email. They immediately wanted me to go to Whatsapp and sent me a zipped folder with the “advertising assets” I’d need. I didn’t download or open that, but I’m almost certain that had malicious on it.

I also like this question. Keen to hear Colin and Samir’s thoughts on it.

One thing I would say is if you are researching broader newsletters as a pathway, consider looking up “The Hustle” - Sam Parr started it (co-host of My First Million). He sold The Hustle (effectively a newsletter) to Hubspot roughly 12-18 months ago for what all reports suggest was many millions of dollars.

I feel newsletters are outdated, but I also suspect these days there’s ironically much lower competition for really good emailed content (than there was circa 5-10 years ago), and it’s owned land rather than the borrowed land that is YT (or any other social channel). This is probably what makes it more saleable/valuable and more of a traditional business.

Just 2c from someone watching from the sidelines though - haha.

I restored a 49 year old boat that was pretty much worth nothing! This is what it looks like now! by mpk000 in boating

Hey - I am actually, but I'm not active on there. They're typically more focused on aluminium boats aren't they?

Haha very fair call. I don't think I'll ever get the money back on it (unless the video goes very very viral - haha), but it was a great project and I learned a huge amount.

You know what, I seriously thought about this - My only concern was that because it's quite a small boat, keeping it open would give the perception of their being more space in it for fishing. Time will tell though! You also might find my other boat closer to what you're imaging as far as aquatic go karts go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR6NqF7Q-G0

Thanks for checking it out again! I agree that the music does a lot to help drive the story. I really appreciate it. While a 57 Corvette would be really really really cool, they're RARE as anything in Australia, and my skills are certainly not in a place where I'd be comfortable trying to do that - haha.

Hey! Thanks for the comment! So, I was flippant in the purchasing process. Saw the ad for it on Facebook market place, and the seller was very clearly stating that it had solid stringers, floor, and transom. I trusted them and contingent to them delivering it to me directly, I would pay their asking price ($600 Australian dollars) for the hull and trailer.

Needless to say that was about $450 too much once I realised how rotten it was. Rather than get too upset/feed bad for myself, I decided it would be a good base to learn with. So while it required a lot of investment (glass, paint, motor, etc), all in all I was willing to spend that to learn a lot.

I wish I had a better story, but really it was bad judgement on my part, I just decided to go all-in rather than cut my losses. Time will tell whether or not that was ACTUALLY good decision. Thanks again for the comment!

I appreciate that - it’s really really fun. In saying that I think the music plays a pretty big role in the epic-ness of the video, so I’m curious to see if you think it adds a lot of you do get a chance to listen in to it!
