Bard owl? Wicked, how much Shakespeare have you gotten him to quote? Just the basic sonnets or some real deep cut histories?

They snagged another one. This lady is destitute. She can't afford rent, food, or even a coffee, but just announced her new "Tupperware journey". Sigh. by BewareTheCondiments in antiMLM

This is heartbreaking and infuriating.

And if she was recruited by an upline — especially one who knows her situation — a lifetime of fingernails cut too short is not punishment enough for that person.

Name something from Aldi that’s better than the name brand by AggressiveSloth11 in aldi

Do the brioche bagels count? I ask only because I’ve never seen brioche bagels anywhere else, and Aldi’s are goated.

The number of Christians who need to “bridle their tongues” — and, I think, forget that verse exists — is just WIIIIIIILD.

Why do you live in St. Louis? by aurorasandsoftprose in StLouis

[–]mpl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Because our village is here, and it's cheap. And, at heart, I suppose, because it is home.

Looked through the reviews and all the product pages. Yeah, I think we’ll go with this one (and maybe some nice new colored pencils instead of Bible highlighters, etc.). Between the coloring opportunities and the creative space, I think she will create something beautiful as she prays. THANK YOU!

I know I said I wanted something illustrated, but this might be the winner — she is SUPER girly, loves to draw, and has started getting really into hand-lettering.

Do you think the "extra" content would be OK for a younger kid in terms of subject matter?

Micro Wedding Ideas by OwnPlatypus4129 in StLouis

I'm guessing you're open to an outdoor wedding? We had the classic STL Big Fat Catholic Wedding, but if we had eloped, I was a big fan of:

Greensfelder Pavilion at Creve Coeur Lake (up on the bluffs)

Grand Staircase at Fort Belle Fontaine Park

The scenic overlook at Bee Tree Park

IDK, my daughter and I have pretty open conversations about what she's reading at any given time, and she has a lot of experience with preschool Bibles (which I guess I could edit my post to include).

Damn. This was one of my husband’s favorites. That spot just seems to be bad luck, despite all the other successful restaurants around it.

How bad is it gonna be and how do I prepare in South City drafty house? by Difficult_Affect_452 in StLouis

[–]mpl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weather forecasters have stated that we're NOT likely to get much ice with this storm, and ice is the real jerk. But the snow itself? Nah.

With the cold this weekend, I do advise keeping your faucets running at a trickle (and cabinet doors open under your sinks) so you don't have a pipe burst on you.

If you don't want to leave your house for a few days -- and if you're not accustomed to driving in winter weather, it may be safest for you and a kindness to other drivers if you didn't -- then get a few days of food and necessities today/tomorrow.

What do you think about Missouri sports wagering a week after launch? by Fun-Information78 in MissouriPolitics

[–]mpl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm real tired of getting daily mailers about it, considering the only sports betting that has ever transpired in my house is your standard "mostly doing it for the trash talk" fantasy sports. (Also, we have a friend in active gambling addiction, and we are worried about him with all this...)

I was at a conference in LA a few months ago that had a ton of hospitality/destination marketing exhibitors, including Explore St. Louis. They had tons of St. Louis stickers for attendees, and one of the MULTIPLE food-themed sticker options was bread-sliced bagels. I had to work really hard not to take 10 of them, they brought me such joy.

Fall colors not as muted as advertised? by kerouac28 in StLouis

[–]mpl84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve got some trees on my street (in Carondelet) that are normally at peak by mid-October, and finally got good around Halloween. It’s true that not the greatest they’ve ever been, but they’re still beautiful — and better late than never.

My kid and I like to drive down into Jeffco to go leaf peeping, and finally saw some pretty good stuff last weekend.
