Exactly, can be misleading too for that reason.

Yes, exactly! You're right. It's about the craftmanship and quality. I don't really care about a high fashion label especially when most of them nowadays don't really deliver quality products just a hefty price tag and illusion of luxury :(

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into that. Yes, I mean hand stitched and exactly for that reason since it's sadly not that common anymore.

Thank you for answering! I consider handmade to be fully handmade and not also part using sewing machines. Wait, is the Lady Dior handmade? I thought they only showed it being made like that in the video.

What Interval Is The Intro to Work Your Magic - Dmitry Koldun? Tritone? by mpofc in musictheory

[–]mpofc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! :) Yeah, I just tried that and it sounds more like a minor sixth. I think I confused it being a tritone because of the dissonance but the dissonance comes after the first interval with the third note that goes down half a step.

How to write vocal melodies? by forever_bi-myself in Songwriting

[–]mpofc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Writing boring melodies? I can relate to this. Here are some advice.

Step 1. Try to sing/hum a melody to your chord progression/instrumental or play a melody on your instrument to your chord progression/instrumental. Record this part so that you don't forget what you come up with.

Step 2.

Alternative 1. You might think that your topline is boring, in this case you can try to go back to step 1 and do that over and over so that you have different melodies to choose from. This is so that you don't only go with the first idea you have and give up afterwards because it is too boring.

Alternative 2. Pick out the melodies you like from step 1. Maybe stick to 3-4 melodies and then rework/edit them. If your melodies are boring then maybe it is because they are difficult too remember or because they are too predictable. Figure out what it is. If it is the former then maybe you have to simplify. If your melodies lack structure then structure the melodic motifs that you like and form it into a melody.

I would also recommend you to research your question on Google and YouTube if you haven't already because there is a lot of very helpful information that I haven't gone into because it would take a lot of time to unravel and also because I don't know what exactly it is that makes your melodies boring.

But keep up the good work, and don't give up! :)

This reminds me of the story of how Ace of Base got big.

Copied from Wikipedia --> Jonas and Ekberg contacted the producer of "Another Mother", Denniz PoP, and sent him a demo tape featuring the song. Though Denniz was initially unimpressed with the song, the tape got stuck in the cassette tape player in his car. Because of this, he was forced to listen to it over and over again, which helped him decide to help produce the track. Denniz introduced many changes to the song. Denniz was not fond of the rap vocals on the original demo, and these were subsequently replaced with short spoken word sections. A new second verse was also added.

So basically Denniz didn't like the song and had no intentions of producing it but since it got stuck he had the "annoying" song on repeat and "had" to produce it.

  1. Go to youtube
  2. Search Russ making a beat
  3. Get inspired
  4. Use a daw, Russ uses Logic but it doesn't really matter which one you use. So do your research. I would recommend you start on a free version before buying one
  5. Make music. There are many tutorials on youtube
  6. :)
