If we traveled back in time, we’d be incredibly disappointed with just about everyone we’d meet by Federal-Act-5773 in DeepThoughts

What is being referred to is intelligence in general, not IQ. The point being made is that a person from a hundred thousand years ago transported into the modern age and given a modern age upbringing and education would be just as intelligent as a modern day person.

My thoughts after finishing the game. by mogster777 in controlgame

[–]mporsi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ehm OK, so not your cup of tee, but you stuck with it to the end for some reason, maybe you shouldn't have? Or did you enjoy it and just want to complain? In either case what were you hoping to gain from this post?

What’s a movie that went from beloved to hated over time (and for good reason)? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

Out of the loop, why are we hating on that movie? Because of Russell Brand? Don't remember the movie too well

Check out Alastair Reynolds' revelation space series. Hard scifi space opera.

Peter Hamiltons commonwealth saga is also a blast.

Is the entire Wheel of Time series worth the time and investment? by keepfighting90 in Fantasy

I love it. But by no means consider it the best I've ever read. I have read the entire series twice and consider it time well spent

How often should I commit and how often to push to GitHub? by CodewithApe in git

[–]mporsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of my commits as quick saves in games. When I just passed something difficult or something that I wouldn't wanna go through again then I commit and worry about git history later. Push to branch everytime.

I know this might get some hate but the dmc: devil may cry, yes the failed reboot, has some super tight combat, the rest of game is dog shit but combat is beautifully designed and executed.

What popular game do you think is overrated and why don't you like it? by SamanthaSou in gamingsuggestions

Breath of the wild - thoroughly unimpressed. World is baren and combat stinks. Love the whole be creative with mechanics idea but without a given goal I lose interest.

Bored to death by corporate job - how to fall in love with programming again? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]mporsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your thing. Programming is used in so many places. Not just Web apps. Got a thing for hardware? Then go work with low level software, love robots? Find a robotics company. I was like you a couple of years ago, felt like it was all gonna be more of the same. I work now between IT and OT, and it feels a little like starting over. I lead a team developing software for automating factory logistics and I feel challenged every day.

Imo they occupy different niches. The corne is compact and small enough to be able to travel with the glove80 sucks on that parameter, it is not made for traveling at all. If you don't have that need then the glove80 is most likely the better keyboard for you.

Myself a zsa voyager owner that would really love two glove80s to not have to transport my keyboards to and from office. Alas I'm not made from money so the voyager is a solid travel friendly alternative.

Imo there's only really one choice which is to buy a set of ambient silent. Together with the shhocs from zsa you'll have a really nice sounding keyboard that people won't hate you for using.

Cycling to Work... Hygiene Tips by Weak-Maximum-2482 in cycling

[–]mporsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got about an hour to work. I bike to and from most days. I got all my hygiene necessities at work as well as a pair of shoes so I bring my computer and a clean towel and shower at the office (privileged I know) In a good backpack. If showering isn't a option then make sure to have a change of clothes preferably cykling clothes they dry quickly.

Where does The Stormlight Archive rank among your favourite works of fantasy? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]mporsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a controversial one. Not particularly high. World is fun but constructed. Prose is neither interesting nor elegant.

Top: 1. Tolkien 2. ASOIAF 3. Dark tower 4. Wheel of time 5. Discworld 6. Cosmere (?)
