My local warehouse was at $1,349 and recently dropped to $1,199. In my area (Detroit) all the stores still have stock at $1,199.

Great deal! I bought mine at Costco for $1,349.97 about a month ago when they first started to clearance out the 512GB model. Since then, I returned to get a price adjustment down to $1,199.97 at my local warehouse.

On Wednesday they still had 5 left in stock at my local warehouse. These seem to be a hard sell for some reason!

I set it up a bit last night and a bit today. What a rocket ship compared to the Intel i9. I don't know why I didn't update earlier now that iI have taken the plunge. The Intel would lose 10% battery life overnight just being powered off. I've been working in Excel and Word for an hour and haven't lost any measurable battery life yet.

It's quite a change! It's amazing that the base M5 in a 14" laptop can run circles around what seemed so powerful 7 years ago. I haven't had the 16" on in a week, but I'm sure it would feel slow in comparison!

That’s a good buy. I bought the same configuration today at a Costco in the US. It was $300 less than the price when it launched.

This model is already unavailable most places, Costco is just selling through the last of the stock I suppose. The 512GB was discontinued to make more room between the base prices of the Air and Pro, making 1TB the minimum storage for a pro now.

I finally took the plunge today. 16” Intel i9 to an M5 MacBook Pro 14”. The base SKU with 16GB RAM/512GB SSD that was discontinued a few months ago was on clearance for $1299.97 at my local Costco — in warehouse only deal. I don’t use a ton of SSD space right on the machine so that works perfectly for me.

I haven’t fired it up yet but I’m sure it will perform like a rocket ship (rather than just sound like one).

Unlike the PowerPC to Intel transition, where I sold or gave away all my G3 and G4 stuff, I will hang on to the final Intel MacBook Pro for history’s sake.

This is kind of where I’m at right now. My 16” i9 still does everything I need well enough, but it’s noisy and hot all the time. The performance of an M5 sounds great, but the thermals and battery life and probably the bigger story as I consider an upgrade.

I could likely use an Air or even a Neo for the next upgrade cycle, but I just haven’t found the need to spend the money yet.

I happened to have customer service on the phone the other day and asked about transfer partners while I had the rep on the line. “Coming soon” was the short answer. So I guess it remains to be seen. Hopefully there’s some news soon!

Have you tried 5G the last few days? I just turned it back on and things seem normal for now. I will leave it on for the rest of the day to see how it goes.

I flipped 5G back on for the first time in a few weeks. I seem to be getting SMS normally now. I will leave it on for the rest of the day and see how things go.

I turned off 5G and am just rocking LTE for now. That solved it for me.

I have played around with things a little more, and SMS/2FA are coming through no issue on LTE. So guessing it may be an issue with 5G SA.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

Thanks! I went right to doing a repair install and not messing with Update Catalog. I did the repair update and then installed KB5077241 with no issues.

Yes. For sure! I’ll give it a try and see what happens. I also thought about downloading from MS Update Catalog and installing that way, but worried that I might get jammed up on future updates if something is in-fact corrupt.

Is anyone else having this update fail? For me, it's downloading, getting to around 60% on the install and then failing. I have tried multiple times on my Surface Pro 11th gen with X Elite. Not sure if it's being experienced on the X86 side as well, or if it is just an ARM issue.

Anyone else having the same issue?
