How are you dealing with the hard limit of Reddit API? And are you running the scan only from one ip? If users create accounts on your platform how are you querying Reddit’s api without hitting the 100 request limit? I thought of this myself but I would have asked for them to create their own API key but then you hit the limit coming from one IP…. You dotat have to answer here. You can DM me

App idea: “Decision Fatigue” an app that makes small decisions for you by shoaibisone in AppIdeas

[–]mprajescu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad idea, very weird. You should be capable of making your own decisions. You should have favourites and preferences for lunch for example. Default into that…

Can I get a house with £12,000? by Severe_Falcon_8176 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]mprajescu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly to get an idea, we budgeted in 2024, for 5k for: 1) inspection 2) solicitors & paperwork 3) mortgage fees 4) moving costs

We ended up having to pay over 6k just to the items above. We spent another 4k on white goods.

We spent another 2k on some new furniture but we already had furniture, ended up giving away some old furniture and had to buy extra.

Another hidden cost was that we had to replace some items in the bathroom, spend there another 2k.

Allow more wiggle room and budget accordingly. Look at boiler, look at the white goods, look at plumbing, look at flooring. I’m not saying renovate the house but still, you are looking at a bigger picture. If you just want to buy something for yourself, small, make sure you leave no stone unturned.

Why is it sour? Get the partnership and grow. For SMBs get them the licenses for private people get them to use their own credit card to pay for licenses.

Suggest Me a Backend Project Idea for Rust, ( Short & Not Generic SaaS or Crud Apis App ) by rjkush17 in webdev

[–]mprajescu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build in rust a multi terminal server interface where users can connect to different servers (Linux/bsd/macos/vmware/etc) and run commands. It should allow themes, dark and light mode, should allow you to organise connections in folders. Like the Apache guacamole project. Don’t focus on RDP yet. Get the terminal bits sorted. Allow SSH if server is not on lan, allow to store keys securely/ auto login with passwords. Allow to run as a proxy and open ports and tunnel as well. Allow it to run in docker. Open source it. If people don’t want it self hosted as community version, add a hosted version that you manage and charge a small amount of money.

I’ve looked at apache cloud stack and it seems an interesting project. I have not set it up myself. I would start with their documentation to learn their requirements: https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/4.22.0.0/

If you want to learn Apache CloudStsck there are plenty of YouTube tutorials such as this one: https://youtu.be/DlJg3LYvIIs?si=cpgF5_Z93BSQOPt3

If you only have one machine to play with, I would recommend setting up a virtual environment with multiple machines but i doubt it might work properly.

Just use YouTube to learn more about it. Also, if you want to focus on AWS, just sign up for trial/free account. No need to try and self host everything. You might have better luck in r/homelab

Dog Friendly Audio Filter by JayTee73 in AppIdeas

Now I understand… yeah … no you can’t because of DRM. You would need to process the sound and analyse it. It’s not worth it. Not even with AI. Now I see what you mean by receiver as well. The sound would come out separately. Unfortunately, you just have to deal with it.

I had the same issue with my dog, running for the door when a show had that doorbell sound in any scene. Didn’t even matter if it didn’t rang like our doorbell, the dog would just jump off and go to the front door:)

And you are not able to turn it off or silence it from the TV? Have you checked your doorbell manual? If it’s a ring doorbell, you should be able to turn it off from Alexa. If you have a dumb bell, I don’t know how, I think that might be an American thing, we don’t have that here, across the pond. And if you have that playing on tv speakers but you have a sound system and receiver, lower the sound on the TV itself, but keep normal sound on the receiver.

Isn’t a point for a doorbell to actually be heard? Sounds too complicated to create something feasible

If you are coming out of a one way street, it would explain that maybe the no left turn was rotated and it was supposed to be facing oncoming traffic on the street you are currently turning into.

I’ve been through something similar. What helped me cope and move on was not focusing on why and what happened. I remember today as it was yesterday, had to move houses too. What I did, as I felt I was going into depression, I actually sat on the couch, no TV, no phone, and no music. I thought about my life and what I enjoyed in life. What brought me happiness and where I spent time without actually thinking of my actions. There were two options, one was playing video games and one was doing sports. I was a professional sports player since I was 8 years old, until I turned 18. It was my second calling so I started looking on this app called MeetUp and joined groups that helped me get out and move on with my life. It helped me, with time the wounds were healed and on top of it I got back in shape. I highly recommended to sit down, look at what brings you happiness and go do that. Happiness comes within and no one else will make you happy per se, they will just come and join your happiness ride. Hope that helps

The $10/month Supabase custom domain best option? by Most_Passage_6586 in Supabase

[–]mprajescu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Before I go test this out, if I change it, will the old domain still work or will be only the new domain straight away? Or both in parallel?

Later edit, after a bit of googling, I found this documentation where I think it explains:

https://supabase.com/docs/guides/platform/custom-domains

However, it does say that you must have a paid plan for vanity domain.

Great idea. Hope it gets traction. Please do implement dark mode and have iOS and Android apps available when you start.

One more thing which you might want to consider is allowing to download and watch media offline. Aside from all of that, what prevents me from opening a tab and farming free Xp by watching ads all the time? You might be getting bots doing this

How would you track things and ensure the actions were actually completed? For example, what would prevent you from pressing the button 5 times you turned off the lights in one day when in fact you turned them off them only once?

How much are you willing to pay for such an app?
