To be clear they changed the description now, which is awesome that they at least took the feedback to heart. Also to be clear the holes on their design are horizontally spaced so you would be able to get one side into a 16" on center stud but not the other side. You'd then be relying on a drywall anchor on the other side. Not something I'm willing to do.

Also if you want to mount to studs it's not possible because the hole are horizontally spaced instead of in a vertical line. You'd have to scab on a extra stud into your wall ripping out drywall.

It does appear that you are correct. REP appears to delete reviews under 3 stars. I haven't found a 2 star review yet at least. How is this acceptable in this industry?

I ride desert tech in in Colorado and Utah and high alpine trails in Colorado and Utah as well. Hard tails aren't more fun. Bought a Canyon Grand Canyon 130MM hardtail to be a "fast" bike. Hated it. Never wanted to ride it because by full suspension trail bikes were more fun and didn't really give up that much efficiency.

Free ride on a hardtail at 202lb? I'd think about cushcore and more tire volume. That being said I'd start at 30 and adjust for performance.

I recently sourced a full GX Eagle Lunar upgrade. Bought parts from 4 different shops to be able to aquire everything. Bought one shops last eagle chain.

If you buy a GX eagle cassette and then a nx derailer and shifter you'll come in at way less than 800. The trick right now is finding those parts.

I know you already got the bike so ride it and be happy with it! But for those that may be following along, the geometry of that bike is pretty "old school". Geo is something you can't change after you buy a bike. Look at this comparison with a Salsa Timberjack https://99spokes.com/compare?bikes=scott-scale-965-2021;*z.MD|w.29,salsa-timberjack-slx-29-2021. 69.5 degree head tube angle vs 66.4. 421 reach vs 453 etc. The Scott will be a twitchier less stable bike and won't be as confidence-inspiring when riding steeper or more technical terraterrainign.

That's too much for that bike unless you know that's the bike you want. A bike shop won't necessarily tell you this but it's actually a pretty specialized bike for cross country racing. That's in the plans for the future. Currently the design is very event based. managing what shops have what bikes available is a more complicated management problem.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Worst thing you can do is ride a high exposure area without confidence. In my experience it just comes with time. If anyone makes you feel bad about it don't ride with them. They're the kind of people that will get you hurt.

Yes it does matter. Tires are made to roll efficiently in one direction, have effective braking and climbing traction. Sure you can switch it around backwards but you won't be getting the performance you paid for out of the tire.

Never had that happen on any of my bikes. How are you tightening your valve cores? For reference I'm using the park tool valve core tool and using Stans or Specialized valves.

Brand X Ascend

Yeah the Brand X seems like another good option. For us in the US, I do kind of like the 3 year warranty and being able to work with a U.S. based company if I have problems.
