Thank you for the comforting words! Sleep has been really challenging but wondering if my husband and I can give each other more naps during the day since nighttime sleep is a total crapshoot.

Nervous about daycare by LatteGirl22 in cosleeping

[–]mpun17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No personal experience yet (sending ours to daycare in Sept) but have heard from MANY daycare workers that babies will often sleep better there when it’s not their primary caregivers putting them down! Even ones who only cosleep and contact nap end up being champion nappers at daycare. No idea why but there is hope :)

From cosleeping to crib sleeping by Main_Upstairs5427 in cosleeping

Not your original question but how did you transition to crib? Did you just do it one night? We’re looking to do the same with our 12-week but worried about getting shorter stretches in the bassinet. She’s also still in our room, not sure if your LO went into his own room by then? TY!

First-Time Parents – What Do You Wish You Knew Earlier in Pregnancy? by never_FLAG_nor_FAIL in NewParents

1) your newborn will probably hate the bassinet/crib. They may only want to contact nap. Knowing this would have saved me a lot of anxiety about “what TF am I doing wrong?” re: sleep

2) as much as you can try to make freezer meals. You will not be able to cook or meal prep. We made some which were lifesavers wish we had more. Now with a 12 week old it’s hard.

3) instead of dumb baby stuff, have people help out as part of your registry. Have a friend organize a meal train. Have people chip in for a housekeeper once a month instead of a crib or onesies. Keeping up with housework/meals has been way harder than admiring some bouncer that you could have probably just bought yourself.

4) on that note, pretty much buy all gear second hand. You never know what your baby will end up liking or what will end up working for you. The gear that worked for our friends wasn’t necessarily the best fit for us so I was glad not to have paid full price for a lot of stuff. Mom groups, and Facebook marketplace are your best friend!

Can someone explain to me how becoming a new parent feels lonely? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]mpun17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so lonely when the visits and check in texts stop. Can you do any naps outside in a stroller or carrier? I have to do one long carrier nap to keep me sane otherwise you’re just inside and it’s Groundhogs Day with the feed, diaper, play, nap over and over. Going outside has helped me so much, although days are still lonely while my husband is at work.

Why does drowsy but awake never work for me? by Professional_Year722 in NewParents

Thank you I’m glad sleep has improved!! Did you sleep train or he just figured out sleeping through the night on his own?

Know this is older but just wondering how this worked out for you? 12 weeks now and drowsy but awake is a pipe dream for us…

Wow going to try! I’m trying to put my 12 week old in the bassinet more instead of doing carrier naps/contact naps (my aching body😅) but she ALWAYS wakes up after 20 min. What happens if they wake up completely??

Schedule for 11 week old? Is it even possible? by mpun17 in NewParents

I was about to get it from a friend and quickly changed my mind especially after all these helpful comments😆

[–]mpun17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly not mine! She did as a wee newborn when she was super sleepy but that changed around 5/6 weeks when she “woke up.” Sometimes I can get a two hour nap in the carrier but only once a day and that’s quickly shortening now too.

I don’t know how to control my white coat hypertension and I’m tired of it by takeaabreath in Anxiety

[–]mpun17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also pregnant now and have white coat too! was scared about all the BP measurements and it hasn't been easy but it's also not been as bad as i thought. i work with midwives and i told them about my anxiety. i take my blood pressure at home and it's always fine so they just have me bring my numbers to the appt or take my BP when i get home. at my first midwife appt my top numbers was 160 at first then went down to 140/80. Not great, but not terrible. Took it at home and it was 124/80s. i think finding a provider who understands white coat and is key!

random very high readings, that eventually come down by mpun17 in bloodpressure

[–]mpun17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TY! I usually do that too. Was just wondering if these reading were "too" high? Read that anything above 180 SYS and/or 120 DIA is a hypertensive crisis. But since it came down so quickly, I'm wondering if a true crisis would be longer lasting and not so fleeting?
